Prosecutors filed murder and kidnapping charges Monday against a man accused in the gruesome dragging death of his 49-year-old girlfriend.
Jose Luis Rubi-Nava, 36, also faces charges of forging and possessing a government-issued document. He was being held without bail.
The battered and disfigured body of Luz Marie Franco Fierros was found Sept. 18 in a normally quiet subdivision about 20 miles south of Denver.
Investigators say Franco Fierros had been dragged behind a vehicle for more than a mile, leaving a bloody trail. Preliminary autopsy results said she suffered fatal head injuries and strangled as she was dragged.
She was identified by matching her fingerprints to Mexican voter registration records.
Court documents remained sealed in the case, and it was not clear what documents Rubi-Nava was accused of forging. District attorney's spokeswoman Kathleen Walsh declined comment.
Immigration officials have said they believe Rubi-Nava is an illegal immigrant.
A judge scheduled another hearing for Thursday to hear motions in the case.
Build the fence!
Yes, build it! We can't give lethal injections to their unwanted citizenry; Mexico opposes the death penalty.
As long as my pint of strawberries stays at $2.39,,,, who cares.
"A judge scheduled another hearing for Thursday to hear motions in the case."
And to think, in some states he qualifies for free education and healthcare, and he gets to do the jobs that noboby wants. That is, jobs that pay horribly that turn them into jobs that nobody wants.
"We can't give lethal injections to their unwanted citizenry; Mexico opposes the death penalty."
I think we can give the death penalty to their citizens that are here. I just think that they won't transfer any of their citizens from Mexico for committing crimes here if the death penalty is on the table.
Wondering what excuse the Defense is going to use for this senseless death?
Document Disenfranchisement?
Illegal Immigrant Disphoria?
American Conversion Disorder?
That's true. But even when we have them here and it's on the table, Mexico voices opposition, as if we would go by their laws for their citizen.
One of the news nets reported that this guy had been collared in April for a traffic beef and was ID'ed an an illegal. Was he deported then?
I think this perp is a multiple deportee. not sure on that occasion tho..
THIS is a frickin' hate crime.
As a matter of fact, some countries won't even extradite unless "life w/o parole" is ALSO taken off of the table & mexico is one such country. Yet, we were perfectly willing to send Duane "Dog" Chapman back to mexico for capturing a drugging rapist that, IMHO, mexico was knowingly let hide down there.
mewzilla, From what I understand on that specific occasion he was not deported, they didn't prosecute him for what they picked him up for & released him & at the time Denver was a "sanctuary" city & the Denver authorities didn't notify ICE...btwn that time & the time of the dragging death the state of CO told jurisdictions throughout the state that they were not allowed to be "sanctuary" cities.

I really don't want to be seen as "speaking ill of the dead", however, facts are facts & there is further info on this case that I think needs to be pointed out.
The woman that was dragged to death was ALSO an illegal alien invader. And not only that but Colorado victim-compensation funds are going to partly cover sending her body back to mexico for burial.
Yes, I know I'll be viewed by some as being "insensitive" but I don't care. As far as I'm concerned, no illegal alien invader should be getting (even in death) $ from a govt victim-compensation fund. The article I'm going to give a link for gives the excuse that the fund isn't made up of tax $'s but from "surcharges levied on people who plead guilty or are convicted". Sorry but that fact doesn't change my mind. So what if it isn't from tax bucks...IMHO govt associated vic comp funds should ONLY go (dead or alive) to citizens & LEGIT visitors/immigrants to the USA.
Nor do I think that TAX $'s should be spent on cosmetic face reconstruction for deceased illegal alien invaders (as is being done in this case)...that's what closed caskets are for.
I've been told on more than one occasion that I should have compassion for illegal alien invaders...well it ain't gonna happen...I've had enough.
The next quotes are from the following link:

"The Mexican government and Colorado victim-compensation funds will cover the full cost of repatriating the remains of Luz Maria Franco-Fierros - the woman who was dragged to her death last week - back to her hometown of Chilpancingo, the capital city of the Mexican state of Guerrero."
(SNIP)
"Both Franco-Fierros and the suspect in her death, Jose Luis Rubi-Nava, are illegal immigrants from Mexico."
(SNIP)
"In Franco-Fierros' case, as with other murder victims, the funeral home cosmetically reconstructs the face to save the family the shock of seeing a loved one so disfigured."
I should say I'm sorry to disappoint you, but I won't, since I don't see your view as insensitive. The bottom line is, having illegals here is costly in many insidious ways. Liberal socialists, I have come to surmise, want the absolute destruction of society as we know it.
"This is a MUST SEE video for anyone interested in the immigration debate, whether you are a citizen, an illegal alien or a Congressman. ... all » This clip from the longer video, Immigration by the Numbers, features Roy Beck demonstrating the catastrophe of the huge numbers of both legal and illegal immigration by Third World people into the modern nations. He uses standard statistics (US Census) and simple gumballs to show this disaster in the making."

Wow! If that doesn't bring home the reality of it, nothing will! I think that deserves its own thread...
