What Bill Clinton Wanted to Accomplish (RNC Fact Sheet for Clinton Interview)

Still wondering what Pres. Clinton was trying to accomplish in his fiery, finger-wagging chat with FOX's Chris Wallace? Look no further than Camp Clinton's explanation.

"When Wallace questioned his record on terrorism, he responded forcefully, as any Democrat would or should," said spokesperson Jay Carson, in what were essentially Clinton's marching orders to Dems some 6 weeks before E-Day.

This outburst may have been a calculated bid to frame the debate, by example, and prep his party for the fight they face. Many Dems were already riding this train. But Clinton may have concluded that others need a gentle kick.

Clinton, as always, is a double-edged sword; His outburst will rally GOPers as well.

HRC's camp is cautiously praising the performance, but many of her supporters privately wonder if his testosterone will be a problem for '08, particularly as she tries to show Commander-in-Chief distinctions from 42. Keeping him in check, and more importantly, keeping voters from comparing the two Clintons too easily, will evidently be easier said than done.

Meanwhile, the Republican National Committee just sent out a long list of "facts" in response to the "myths" it says Clinton disseminated.

Are you talking about Wallace not having a counterfact? In the transcript I read it appeared Clinton just wouldn't let him talk.

You make a good point. A better title for the RNC release might have been, "What the DNC hopes to salvage from the Clinton FNS meltdown."

As always the Republicans are too limp-wristed in these situations and blather on instead of going for the sucker punch. All they have to say is: "John Kerry ran his campaign on the theme that OBL would have been captured if a Demo was in the W.H. In view of the fact that a Demo WAS in the W.H. between 1993 and Bush's election, why wasn't OBL already captured when Bush won the election?" End of story.

There is no such thing as a monolithic 'Hollywood' and hasn't been since the early 1960s when the Studio System collapsed. It's a fake Boogeyman people keep invoking. These days anyone can get a movie made.

Don't knock it. For many Americans emotion trumps logic.

You are correct, but the swing voters (and a few of thosae who vote Dem) will be scared out of their minds by a party that throws a tantrum over a movie and then asks for the reins of power. A tantrum is not the same as biting the lip--Seeing a pol lose his composure in that manner is a sure turnoff for most voters.

That's why George Steppenalloverus said to Ross in a phone call, recorded in The War Room, a docu-drama of the '92 election campaign, that if Perot didn't shape up, he "will never work in Democratic politics again." It sure seemed Perot was coordinating with Georgie and the Kurintong cabal (and that George was intent on taking credit for that).

I think he might have planned to go after Wallace as soon as terror came up, and maybe had some talking points, but I don't believe he meant to get that mad. I think he lost control...no surprise for a manof his predilections.

I just mentioned that CHRIS WALLACE, on Hannity's Radio show today, just said HE didn't think Clinton meant for the interview to turn out like it did being he was red faced, face and hands sweating. This will be played not only by Fox..but by the rest of the MSM because it shows Clinton in an entirely different light.. think what you will, but I think Wallace is right on. The blogs are all over it...time will tell.

I don't defend Perot, never supported him, thought he was at least half crazy. I like to think it was Perot that cost the election, but I thought polling showed Clinton would win anyway. Perot voters were dissatisfied "independents" who probably would not vote republican.

But in any event, in 1996 Perot really went after Clinton, and the attacks dragged Clinton below 50%. I know the Clintonites were upset about that, it meant Clinton never received the votes of a majority of Americans. Perot went after Clinton on the corruption, which republicans should have been doing.

There are lots of overtly Christian films being made but based on evidence like The Omega Code and 'Left Behind' the talent just isn't there yet. Ironically, the best made of these, Gibson's film, drew more on gory Italian horror movies then on any other genre.

LOL, well most of the "anyones" getting movies made, promoted, and distributed, for the last few decades, clearly have leftwing agendas, and tend to glorify their lifestyles and tribulations.

And everyone else are simply troglodyte bigots.

Wasn't that cut and run?

Did Reagan make that decision or did Congress demanded he withdraw the troops?

To the Editor:

Watching former President Bill Clinton being interviewed this evening by Chris Wallace actually made me feel embarrassed for him. Never could I imagine a former President of the United States having a complete meltdown on national TV over a single question posed in an interview.

Between his intimidation of ABC in the past weeks over a TV drama, The Path to 911, and his total meltdown during the Wallace interview he has shown once again what a small, small man he really is.

I wonder if Chris Wallace suggested that he had better put some ice on it after the interview?

Chris told Sean on the radio he truly thought Slick was mad from the way he acted after the interview and Chris also said Slick's people tried to cut off the interview with the producer.
