Former [UVA Football] Teammate: George Allen Stuffed Deer Head into Black Fmaily's Mailbox

US Senator George Allen is responding to more allegations of racist behavior.

The latest comes from a former college teammate.

Former teammate Doctor Ken Shelton says, "Allen said he came to Virginia because he wanted to play football in a place where 'blacks knew their place.'"

"He used the N-word on a regular basis back then," said Shelton, who was in Salon.com.

During a hunting outing with Allen and another teammate, Shelton says Allen drove the three to a black neighborhood and "he proceeded to take the doe's head and stuff it into a mailbox."

Bishop Gerald Glenn says he used to see Allen as a Confederate flag waving redneck and has talked to the senator about his perception problem in the African American community.

While the two still disagree on key issues, Glenn says assassinating Allen's character does nothing for the voters of Virginia.

Allen told reporters today that he and Doctor Shelton weren't close and haven't spoken to each other in more than 30 years. Other teammates have released statements saying they've never heard Allen use racial slurs.

Allen's approval rating is down in the latest poll released today by SurveyUSA. The poll was taken last week, so the numbers do not reflect possible reaction to the Salon.com article.

Nope, never heard of him/her. Only learned about this blog from a friend who informed me about the Support our Troops rally this past weekend. I don't think he posts here.

Suuuure. And that tagline is just a huge coincidence. Enjoy your stay here, it will be a short one.

I keep having to tell idiots this again and again: First, Allen didn't "call" anybody anything. He thought it was his name.

Somebody better hurry up and tell that "idiot", Allen..............

MR. RUSSERT: Senator Allen, you, too, have gotten in trouble with words that you’ve uttered. Let me bring you back to August 11th. You were at a campaign stop, and a young man who was videotaping it for the Webb campaign was there also. Let’s watch.

(Videotape, August 11, 2006):

SEN. ALLEN: This fellow here—over here in the yellow shirt, macaca, or whatever his name is, he’s with my opponent. And let’s give a welcome to macaca here. Welcome to America and the real world of Virginia.

(End videotape)

RUSSERT: And here’s the young man, S.R. Sidarth, he’s a resident of Virginia, an American citizen, straight-A student at Fairfax High School and now goes to the University of Virginia. Critics say that “macaca” is a racist slur, and that you used it because he was dark-skinned. What did you specifically mean when you said, “Welcome to America and the real Virginia”?  Why did you use those words toward a dark-skinned American?

SEN. ALLEN: Tim, I made a mistake. I said things thoughtlessly. I’ve apologized for it, as well I should. But there was no racial or ethnic intent to slur anyone. If I had any idea that, that that word, and to some people in some parts of the world, world, was an insult, I would never do it, because it’s contrary to what I believe and who I am.

MR. RUSSERT: Well, where’d the word come from? It must’ve been in your consciousness.

SEN. ALLEN: Oh, it’s just made up.

MR. RUSSERT: Made up?

SEN. ALLEN: Just made up. Made-up word.

MR. RUSSERT: You’d never heard it before?

SEN. ALLEN: Never heard it before.

But what if he WASN'T "young and racist"?

Well, I said "young and dumb" not "young and racist" as I don't believe anyone that uses that term is necessarily a racist. Personally I think people that believe use of the 'n' word is racist are people that probably haven't the faintest idea what racism is. That tactic actually diminishes how evil racism truly is.

On a funny note I just heard Bill O'Reilly say "Brett Bair is our chief white correspondent."

And troll might be a better word to describe you. Or would sockpuppet be better? You might find us to be many things, but stupid is not one of them.

If his sister is to be believed (which might be iffy), his mother seems like a real prize:

"According to Jennifer Allen, their mother "prided herself for being un-American. ... She was ashamed that she had given up her French citizenship to become a citizen of a country she deemed infantile."

Your going to believe a man that is coming out of the political closet after thirty years to do a character assasination?

You replied: "Do you have reading comprehension difficulties? Where did I say I believed the accusation? What I do know is Allen called someone a macaca in public. Since the guy he called macaca wasn't white, Allen's done. He could have coasted to re-election and planned for '08 if had been at all careful."

So, here's your original post: What pisses me off is Allen should know better than to compare anyone to a monkey, or whatever he did. Now all these accusations at least have people thinking. I was all for Allen '08, now I'm having to rethink. Anyone got an opinion on Mitt Romney? Surely he can't be as dumb as Allen's remark was.

And what pisses me off is by making the statement quoted above you are believing what the liberal media throws at you. I could ask the question again, "Do you believe..." but I'll just let you think about it a little longer.

Exactly right, MNJohnnie. (And there are also those here pretending to support another candidate, when all they really want is for Allen to lose his Senate seat.)

LISTEN UP, PEOPLE! I don't care if you support Guiliani, Romney, Newt, McCain, Condi, or whoever. Allen is being hit by this crap to defeat him in his SENATE race!

We cannot afford to lose Allen as a senator. There will be time enough for presidential politics after November. DO NOT let that slimeball Webb get away with this type of slime.

If Webb wins, this will be what the next two years will be like...slime on everyone. Support Allen until after November. After that, you are free to diss him if you have a bona fide reason. But for now, let's support him for the Senate!

I'm not a shrink but after being married to a psychologist for 18 years and a psychiatrist for another 8 years... besides being screwed up I am reasonably trained to spot this tripe. You clearly know exactly what maica is referring to when asked if you are MD4BUSH. Your silly line above is so clearly contrived it's laughable.

BTW you 'tell' was the use of 'him/her.' You're trying too hard to act dumb about it. The typical conversationalist would have simply said him or wouldn't have even remarked on the subject at all.

What monkey?

The guy had a strange haircut ~ one exactly like the nutcase who shot up a bunch of people in Montreal last week.

I've heard this "deer head" story before in a joke ~ but not about Allen.I think this Shelton guy is suffering from a cognitive dissonance ~ he's heard a Foxworthy story or something like it (hundrds of thousands of references to "deer" "head" "mailbox"), and associates it all with "Republican".

As if to prove that he's mentally ill Shelton has taken this problem to a newspaper reporter rather than to a psychiatrist.
