Mod note: WJAC corrected its earlier report. Bob Kerrey, not John Kerry, will be at Max Cleland's pro-Murtha event.
Sept. 26, 2006... Local Johnstown, PA station WJAC-TV announced during their 11PM news cast that former presidential candidate Sen. John Kerry will be speaking at the Murtha anti-war counter rally this Saturday. Murtha's counter rally is organized by former Sen. Max Cleland of Georgia. Former presidential candidate Gen. Wesley Clark is also expected to speak.
The Murtha's counter rally is expected to draw anti-war demonstrators in support of Murtha. Rep. Murtha, who has been critical of the War in Iraq, has received national attention and awards of recognition from anti-war groups such as Code Pink who protest outside hospitals caring for Americas wounded soldiers.

You're just making it up. It's your claim, you can't substantiate it, and you know it.
Someone needs a second cup of coffee!
OK, I'll post the quote, observe that Petronski did not use the word "new" in said quote, and further request both of you to have a second cup of CHILL. We're all supposed to be on the same team here.
Coop, Western PA is a long way from North TX (I know cuz I drove it last May to visit my wife's family), but my Credit Card number and donation made it there to Ms. Irey's in seconds flat. There are A LOT of us doing what we can.
And BTW, bump.
Coop is who he is; he may be gruff but he has a big heart. Ignore him if you don't like his psyops. Please let's not derail this thread, which should be a place for information and action.
And yes, there are some around here who are doing what they can in a variety of ways. There always has been, and I applaud & thank them. But they're a minority, and it doesn't change my opinion of this site's collective laziness one bit.
But it's not just this forum, it's conservatives in general. They're great at griping around the water cooler, but God forbid you ask them to actually get involved.
My gruff self never knew that. :-)
Facing a fear is the only way to conquer it. If veterans like you and our beloved WR patients can put themselves out on the line for me and my family, the least I can do is return the favor.
Wesley Clark makes me ill. He is nothing but a Arkansas shill for Clinton. He has no real stand on anything. He is a party hack. He was a nobody and now he tows the party line as a democrat military man. I do not believe he has one true belief or principle. Most things he has never thought through. Plus his son has a potty mouth on the campaign trail. No manners.
You're right that negativity isn't exactly the way to draw a crowd. But try to come Johnstown anyway, Petronski. Fellowship with Freepers-even the crabby ones-is always uplifting. And the cause is a great one.
And save your cyber breath. Squealers like Petronski never have any intention of going to these events.
All that's missing from this rent-a-disgrace mob is Kerry's bandaid brothers. It's hard to imagine that after Cleland's embarrassing errand to Crawford and Kerry's Ghengis Khan moment that Dems actually think this will help Moutha. They really are delusional. They'll find out that most Dems of western PA are better conservatives than our RINOs. These folks aren't entitlement sheep.
WJAC changed its report. It's Bob Kerrey, not John Kerry. Apparently the correct name wasn't seared into the author's memory.
That does make more sense. It's hard to imagine Mr. sour-grapes "I'm John Kerry" lowering himself to prop up anyone else, with the exception of maybe Ted Kennedy. He wants to direct minions, not be one.
Wesley was also on the front cover the the gay magazine "The Advocate". He looked gay. Had a shirt on unbuttoned with a white T-shirt on under it with a big crap eating grin on his face. Yuck.
Was that the reason? I thought it may have something to do with keeping you away so you wouldn't drool over Irey.
I figured attendance wouldn't top 200 (who knew I was being overly optimistic?!?),
I wouldn't know, I wasn't there and never will be at one of these events that seem to be nothing more than an opportunity for a lot of those in attendance to aggrandize themselves. Too bad Code Pink wasn't waging a counter-stand on the corner hold sign and shout protest, the ensuing melee would have been priceless.
so I did a charity run instead.
See my comment above, particularly noting the word aggrandize.
And have no regrets. If I never attend another "Support the Troops" event as long as I live, I'll still have accomplished more than 95% of the crowd at this forum.
All you've accomplished and yet remain so unappreciated. Alas, but 'tis a Shakespearian life you lead, Cooper.
Now run along and find a nice "penis" or "breast" thread somewhere.
Evidently that charity run* you participated in was not for the benefit of the Good Samaritan Society.
* in case anyone may have missed reading it.
Hey, you sound EXACTLY like the clowns over at the now defunct posse!! :-D
So you have never gone (shocking!) nor will ever go to one of the "Support our troops!" events, and yet you know what they're all about? Fascinating.
And by the way, Bozo, out of all the males on FR I have probably been the least likely to post any comments regarding Commissioner Irey's looks. But of course that didn't stop the clowns from circulating rumors (did you ever do anything else?).
...which was brought up only because I, snarky little JLA growing roots in my desk chair, tried some asanine jab and it backfired!
Isn't it rich?
Are we a pair?
Me here at last on the ground,
You in mid-air.
Send in the clowns.
Isn't it bliss?
Don't you approve?
My favorite server shut down
I disapprove.
Where are the clowns?
Send in the clowns.
Now I'd love to continue this conversation but I've got to go out and help old ladies across the street, organize a fund raiser for the local Boy Scout troop, and paint the neighbor's two-story 3,500 sq ft house before they get home from work this evening.
Stop posting so much lest folks begin to think you're all talk, little action.
