Federal authorities say such messages could result in Foley's prosecution, under some of the same laws he helped to enact.

I actually checked it out. They most certaily ARE trying to make a clear distinction between gays and child molestors and calling this guy the latter.
This reminds me of the saying in politics: you can recover from anything except being found with a dead girl or a live boy.

It was the same with all those Brokeback Mountain threads a few months back. Ironically many of the comments on those thread were probably far more explicit than anything in that movie. It was thoroughly unpleasant to read.
Perhaps they're getting some perverse sexual satisfaction out of doing it, I don't know, but one has to wonder.

You realize, of course, that you are posting in a thread about a man who claimed to be interested in protecting young people from online predators and turned out to be one himself. This type of hypocrisy is common in many fields.

Sex with teenagers is something very common within the Gay community. Infact they consider it part of their growing up and learning about their sexuality. Why do you think there is such a push to lower the age of consent when it comes to gays? All self confessed gays of Congress should be investigated, it would not be surprising if they had similar baggage.

The party leadership is in another "class" (ahem) of its own. I agree with you that waiting to see if Foley nevertheless could make it to election day---if that indeed was Hastert et al's thinking---was wrong and dumb.

The page program has been a sex scandal for decades. It should be done away with. The Congresscritters don't need any additional opportunities to feed their egos with perverse activities.
As bad as Foley's conduct was, would it have had the same political result if it had just been found out that he was cruising gay sex hookup sites? No, he had to be dumb and dumber and go after underage pages, young people sent to Washington to be educated about our government.

And tis amazing that they're prepared to act on their perverted fantasies even KNOWING that a sting is very possible since several have admitted that they had seen the Chris Hansen/Dateline pedophile stings on televison!
This is just so wrong and criminal. I hope they prosecute to the fullest extent of the law. Foley is a pedophile. No two ways about it.

Further, the 16-year-old really sounds like a kid. I think he IM'd Foley that he was a virgin. Therefore it's fair to say that Foley is a predator trying to steal the innocence from a vulnerable teen. What a creep/sicko! Clinton was no less of a creep, btw.
