So the Kos Kids acted pretty responsibily under the circumstances for which they should be praised.
Come to think of it
if the Kos Kommunity wasnt buying Foley as internet stalker, maybe you liberals out there would like to explain to me why the GOP leadership should have been more skeptical about Foley than their most rabid opponents?

CREW was founded in 2001 by Melanie Sloan, a former aide to Representative John Conyers and Senator Charles Schumer.
You heard correctly. Fishy, huh?!
BUMP.

* Representative Foley did not have sex with the minor, did not have sex with the young man in the Oval office, did not put him in a high level security position he was not qualified to handle after a major terrorist attack on the country, was not married at the time, did not run a prostitution ring from his apartment, did not turn his back on Congress when he was accused of having sex with a minor, did not run and get re-elected several times in a democratic stronghold after this news broke, Representative Foley no longer sits in Congress, and the page did not disappear and end up dead after an ongoing relationship with Representative Foley.
They have a point, but we are not excusing Foley and they do point out that Foley is GONE.
This is reeking badly.
Meet Melanie Sloan, Executive Director of Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW).
Ms. Sloan was Minority Counsel for the U.S. House of Representatives Judiciary Committee from 1995 to 1998. She worked directly with the Honorable John Conyers, the ranking member of the Committee.
So the libs had these IM's for that long and did nothing?
And take the perverts/lowlifes and murderers Frank, Bubba and Kennedy along, when he goes!
Yep, and it leave other members of congress open to the investigation too since I'm sure that all the pages will be contacted and asked if they were ever harrassed (by anyone). It should be interesting to see what turns up in that investigation.
When it first came to his attention he had only the emails. Based on that he probably made the right call as who could have believed a Congressmen would have sent those IMs? Incredible. But with hindsight now I'm sure Hastert kicks himself for not probing further earlier on.
CREW Requests Ethics Committee Investigation on Rep. Foley
Letter Sent Today in Light of E-Mail Exchange Between Foley and 16-year-old Former House Page

WASHINGTON, Sept. 29 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) sent a letter today to the House Committee on Standards of Official Conduct, better known as the ethics committee, asking for an investigation into Rep. Mark Foley's (R-Fla.) emails to a 16-year-old former House page.
Yesterday, ABC News reported that, using a personal email account, Rep. Foley sent a number of emails to a former page. The emails asked the page his age, how school was and what he wanted for his birthday. Rep. Foley also requested the boy's photograph.
In 1983, the House censured two members of Congress, Reps. Dan Crane (R-Ill.) and Gerry Studds (D-Mass.) for having sexual relationships with pages. In 1990, the ethics committee publicly disapproved of the conduct of Rep. Gus Savage (D-Ill.), who had made sexual advances to a Peace Corps volunteer. In all three cases, the ethics committee relied on the House rule prohibiting conduct that does not reflect creditably on the House.
Based on these precedents, CREW asked the ethics committee to investigate Rep. Foley's E-mails to the former page.
Melanie Sloan, executive director of CREW said today, "The House of Representatives has the responsibility to protect teenagers who come to Congress to learn about the legislative process. The ethics committee has a moral obligation to investigate any allegation that a page has been subjected to sexual advances by a member of Congress and, should the allegations prove true, take swift action to punish the offender." Sloan continued, "The ethics committee should determine whether Rep. Foley's emails to the former page were improper."
CREW's letter and Rep. Foley's e-mails are available at http://www.citizensforethics.org.

There's Melanie Sloan!
I know I read on here somewhere today that the IM's came before the Emails. I don't think I ever saw an exact date, but I was shocked to learned that the IM were dated first.
This harrasment of congressional pages has gone on long enough. Time to put someone on the fire.
I distinctly heard Wolf Blitzer on Late Edition afternoon interupt with a bulletin stating that Nancy Pelosi called for an investigation. Not sure if Pelosi wanted a CRIMINAL investigation and as I see it she was likely stoking the flames of this scandal as it were for political expediency.
So the Dems can claim that they called for an investigation first. If, in fact, the timing is as it seems on the surface.
