Looks like Hastert is sending a strong message here.

Isn't it a real shame that Hastert did not send this strong message some time ago ... when this first came to his attention ... and while Foley was still a member of the House of Representatives?!

It is my understanding that Hastert only saw the e-mails, which were a tad too friendly but not explicit. The IM's were not revealed until this week, and those were the things with explicit sexual comments.

Hastert didn't know about it then, The only ones who did were RATS and MSM, who sat on the information until the opportune time to damage Republican election chances. They're the ones to blame here.

Hello,

When did Speaker Hastert become aware of the full extent of this?

I'm looking forward to your answer, as I have been out of town this weekend.

Glad to be here, MOgirl

When it first came to his attention he had only the emails. Based on that he probably made the right call as who could have believed a Congressmen would have sent those IMs? Incredible. But with hindsight now I'm sure Hastert kicks himself for not probing further earlier on.

I choose to believe Hastert when he says he specifically asked if the offending emails were of a sexual nature and was told NO.

As I understand it there wasn't enough when they first found out. There were no explicit IM's to go on, him simply contacting a former page/friend and asking how he was and asking for a picture. I would see nothing untowards about that.

I agree, Hastert should have started a policy years ago:

NO GAYS ALLOWED in the US senate.

That would have saved him some trouble.
But would Barny Frank and Dem have objected?

Maybe "dont ask - dont tell" policy, with no gays allowed.
Like the US Army? If its good for the Army, why not congress?
