In your post, you decried "mainstream hispanics". Now you are decrying illegals.

The point everyone was making to you was that mainstream Hispanics DO assimilate. When you attempt to paint them with the same brush used to paint illegals, you are gonna get called on it.

You clearly don't have a clue about the feelings of the vast majority of AMERICAN hispanics living over the horizon.

"these people are not harming anyone, "all they want is work, they do not bother anyone""

That's another one of those smooth, psychologically engineered sales pitches, like the abortion one that says "a woman has a right over her own body", and the homo one: "homophobia is like race prejudice". These are Communist brainwashing devices.

I've lived in South Texas and southern California and can see what you're saying. Although the illegals are the group least likely to assimilate, there are many in the hispanic legal community that aren't assimilating either. I think the liberal agenda in schools have made it too easy for them to retain spanish as their primary language over the last few decades, so even their offspring speak spanish first, english second. Since we live in the heart of the invasion, we also know that businesses are making it easy as well - we can announcements in spanish ONLY, alll forms are in both languages, and signs all over are in either.

Also, many of the current legals in states that have been overrun for decades are anchor babies or the children of anchor babies. They were raised in a house that loved their homeland more, never gave an oath of loyalty to this country, spoke spanish at home, and were raised to take from this country - not give. These legal citizens are also less likely to assimilate.

I think there is a huge difference in the mentality of a legal immigrant that sacrificed and waited to come here, spent time learning our language and about our country to take their citizenship test, and above all, took an oath of loyalty to this country. That immigrant would pass on that attitude to their children. The hispanics that came here the right way are to be commended. And are likely just as angry as we are - like the author.

Since we are sadly in a position now after decades of illegals coming here, some of the 'legals' aren't a lot different than the current illegals because they were the anchor babies of past illegals. Numerous MSM stories have also pointed out that 2nd and 3rd generation hispanics don't see the huge step up on the socioeconomic ladder that other immigrants do. They are probably speaking of the decendants of illegals vs. decendants of legals - but after so many decades of PC crap, nobody knows which is which. Except by their attitude towards this country.

That one being a law-abiding patriot and future citizen of the USA.

The opposite is a criminal alien ("crimalien") and just anxious to
jump past all those folks in line at the gate to the USA and
say "SUCKERS!".

Obviously illegal immigration hurts hispanics trying to succeed on merit as individuals, as it does all who do. Those who are relying on a political solution to improve their lives are all for it.

In the end, the joke will be on the latter because the only persons who will benefit in any meaningful way are the hispanic 'leaders' currently doing the illegals' bidding. The rest will continue to wallow in squalor 'cause their success just doesn't fit in with their leaders' plans.

Exactly like with the blacks. The successful blacks, like Clarence Thomas and Condolezza Rice, are labeled Uncle/Aunt Toms and put down for their accomplishments. Our permanent underclass will be much bigger than before - creating a socioeconomic system much like Mexico's.

As long as mainstream Hispanics refuse to assimilate into our society, speak English, write English, fly the American flag, hold strict allegiance to our country and way of life, cease providing illegals shelter and protection from the law, and quit marching in the streets

If those are their views, then they're not "mainstream". I'm mainstream, and those in the streets don't speak for me. www.dontspeakforme.org

Oh, NOW we're supposed to care about illegal immigration, now that it "hurts Hispanics." It's too bad the author doesn't care about black, white and Asian Americans who also are, and have been, hurt badly by illegal immigration.

Oh, well, I guess I shouldn't complain. Since "Hispanics" seem to be the only people in this nation who matter anymore, maybe something will finally be done about illegal immigration, if it hurts them!

I believe that 44% of Hispanics supported Prop 200 in Arizona, which required proof of citizenship before voting or getting welfare.

In Arkansas, we tried to push a similar bill in the state senate, but it failed.
