AMMAN - Jordanian Prime Minister Maaruf Bakhit warned Monday that inter-Palestinian violence would damage the Palestinian cause and undermine efforts for a Middle East settlement. We and our Palestinian brothers are in constant contact and of course we fear inter-Palestinian fighting. This is something we always warned against because it weakens the internal front, Bakhit told reporters. We have high hopes that the Palestinian brothers will use their wisdom so as to ... reach a united position and avoid bloodshed, he added.
Speaking a day after a Jordanian-Egyptian summit in Cairo, Bakhit reiterated calls for the creation of a Palestinian national unity government and a united Arab position to help the Palestinian cause. Jordan and Egypt are in open consultations, he said after the talks in Cairo Sunday between Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and Jordans King Abdullah II. The main goal of this is to give priority to the Palestinian track and to reconfirm to the world that the Palestinian cause is the core problem in the region and if it is not solved its repercussions will be seen as they were in Lebanon, in other places.
Rival security forces loyal to the Fatah faction of Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas and the Hamas-led government engaged in fierce shootouts in the Gaza Strip on Sunday, leaving eight people killed and some 130 wounded. This violence is blocking the peace process, Mubaraks spokesman Suleiman Awwad quoted the president as saying in his talks with the king.
Civil War ping
Killing each other in the name of greed, revenge and, of course, tribal blood feuds. This time it is true, they just happen to be Moslems.
Um, I think the last 35 years of terrorist attacks against civilians have damaged the Palestinian cause just a wee bit also.
Hmmm. How would it look
if we formed a charity
that gave money to
any Muslim who
murders another Muslim . . .
They give money to
Muslims who murder
Jews. Wouldn't they understand
we're just being fair?!
Right. Not like other people/religions.

Not on college campuses.
Fatah and Hamas... gingham dog and calico cat...
deadly feuding harming Palestinian cause
They know nothing else. Their leadership has done a masterful job in assuring a hopeless future. You can't teach hatred, intolerance and death generation after generation and expect a civilized society to emerge.
They'd be too stupid to take the money. They have their "principles", you know... $25 million to rat out osama and no takers... Imagine all the "good" a ragtime cowboy could do with all that moolah...
Name another religion that says in its holy scriptures it is right and just to kill/rape/enslave infidels and or others who are not religious enough. Name another religion that tells you in its holy scriptures that the only way to be sure of entering Paradise is to be killed in waging war on infidels or those not religious enough. Name another religion that believes that first question their god will ask you upon entering heaven is how many infidels have you killed...

A masked Fatah gunman stands in front of a burning office of the Hamas government in the West Bank city of Hebron late October 1, 2006. Protesters loyal to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas of Fatah stoned the home of a minister in the rival Hamas-led government, fuelling fears of escalating violence despite appeals for calm from both sides. Hamas guards outside the home of Refugees Minister Atef Odwan of Hamas fired into the air to clear the crowd, the latest in a wave of pro-Fatah protests over unpaid wages and stalled talks on a unity government.
I'm surprised that it's taken Hamas & Fatah this long to come to blows...
Actually it's been going on for quite a while now, although at a low level.
