A former lover of Time magazine heiress Leila Hadley Luce says he bedded the socialite's daughter when she was just 13 - at the urging of the child's mother.
John Palcewski says he "committed statutory rape" by having sex with Victoria Barlow in 1967 after Leila Luce allegedly told him, "Maybe it would be better if she lost her virginity to someone like you."
But Palcewski says the girl wasn't a virgin - and that the whole incident was wrapped up in the mores of the "swinging '60s."

In a recent deposition for her sister's suit, Barlow says Leila Luce purposely incited Palcewski's lust for her.
One day, while Barlow was in the hallway on her way to her room after taking a shower, Leila Luce "pulled the towel off me in front of John," she says. That incident was part of "a pattern . . . of [Leila] setting up situations in which we children would be abused," Barlow says in her sworn deposition.
The night of the towel incident, Barlow says in her deposition, "I walked into the den . . . to talk with him . . . and we had sex …

I'm confused. So did the man who is being accused (or admitting) to sleeping with the 13 year claim that the 'mother wanted it'(as if that can make a grown man sleep with a 13 year old, whatEVER) or is the daughter claiming it?

I see. Yes, this follows in the mindset that it wasn't abuse because the child 'wanted it'.
William Buckley asked Chambers to be a starting partner with him when starting National Review but declined for the same reason.
BTW, Chambers, Luce, Nixon and McCarthy (Joe) became close friends.
Chambers won his case against Hiss and Hiss went to prison.
Also the writer calls him the "the late Henry Luce III" but then gives his age as 81. Is he dead or alive?
