I've tried looking it up, but considering the fact that the 'global warming' nuts are everywhere, it may be impossible to find.
It was either in the early days of the 'net' or maybe Popular Science years ago.
I just can't remember.(old age setting in) :)
I recall a letter to the editor of Popular Science in October(?) of 1992(?) from a retired engineer.
The basic point of his letter was:
- That the ozone hole was actually discovered in the early 1900's
- The hole is not a hole, but only a thinning - and a 10% thinning at that
He made a few more points to the editor about ozone and that the 'hole' could not be caused by CFC's.
The SOB editor responded that (paraphrasing): "Popular Science is for 'popular' topics. The hole in the ozone layer is the popular way to discuss it."
I was so mad i cancelled my subscription of 25+ years and burned all my copies.
Wish I had saved that one, though.
Perhaps someone can find this?
