I hope this changes. The quality of the last few Toshiba products that I have purchased is sorely lacking.

I just bought a new TV yesterday; and it is a CRT type. None of the LCD TVs I looked at had acceptable picture quality. The stores didn't have any plasmas small enough to fit in the room; so I didn't bother looking at them.

I knew there was a good reason for not buying that plasma or LCD big screen high resolution TV - other than the cost. Now I’ll just wait for the high resolution high contrast holographic TVs to come out at a price I’ll be able to afford.

I guess I am just different: I sell this type of equipment, including projectors, for nonresidential use. I have a CRT TV and when I replace it I will buy a CRT unit. I see no reason to spend the extra hundreds on a flat panel to watch the tripe that most television is.

Most people want brightness, not contrast in fact 99% are happy with LCD (750:1 contrast).

DLP is 2000:1, LCOS 10,000:1, CRT 100,000.

The human eye can easily perceive > 100,000 contrast. That is why SED will take over eventually but not as early as 2008 except in high end applications due to high initial price, and size restrictions.

Superb performance is a given, the real question is costs. Is this 5X more expensive or 1/5 the cost of a plasma?

Toshiba's are the only television and DVD products I'd buy. The just seem to function so much longer and better than other brands I've had.

I am still watching my 60 inch Hitachi "Ultravision" projection TV and can't find a good reason to replace it since we have flogged it for 10 years now and it hasn't missed a beat. I was in Best Buy the other day and saw a 40" Samsung LCD HDTV and fell in love with it but I need at least a 60" TV. Now this. What should I do? I go through any TV store and there are million models there and I don't have a real good idea of what to get. I want reliability, outstanding picture and low energy consumption. Choices, choices, choices.
