Isn't this money going a rather circuitous path? Do all these organizations have to have their hands on the money before it gets to the recipients? Wouldn't it make more sense for donors to send the money directly to the pastors of the churches?
And -- in addition to the initial $5,000 --- which they describe as "seed money" --- they're now in the process of trying to raise more money?
Excuse my suspicious mind, but this looks like the beginning of a major moneymaker for someone, and I don't mean beleaguered Christian churches in Gaza. Please ping me to any new developments on this.
I'm empathetic but sorry to hear that. The Church is NOT the bishops but the people. I happen to reside in a diocese run by one of the most 'progressive' bishops. As bad as things are, I sought a more traditional liturgy and found it in one of the Easten Catholic Churches. And that is where my donations now go :-)
