The happy couple.
>>>"It really has nothing to do a lot with me. It really is some issues with the family," he said. >>>
Yeahhhh, sure buddy.
Now there are loony parents out there, but I'll bet this guy is a REAL loser and her parents felt they were protecting her. Unfortunately, you just legally can't prevent some children from making incredibly stupid decisions.
This guy just may have a great life. The lovely young lady places her hand in a very nice place for photos.
He is close to her in age, both college students, so what's the beef? She apparently is pregnant by him, also. This being in Utah, I wonder if polygamy is somehow involved, say that the parents wanted her to be someone's plural wife.
Should make for some interesting family get-togethers...
It looks like he's quite a bit older than she is. On the other hand Mr. Fairview is quite a bit older than I am, and we have gotten along fine for many years.

She's 21, he's 23. Pretty close.
But I'll bet there are other reasons, unless it's religious. I have known a few Jehovahs Witnesses who would do this to avoid their child being excommunicated or whatever they call it for marrying outside the religion.
He's 23, she's 21.
Thats what I'm thinking, or perhaps the parents are just loons
That's going to make Thanksgiving dinner a bit awkward.
Runaway parents-of-the-bride!
So, I imagine Thanksgiving and Christmas will be at HIS parent's home.
Oh good grief.
read the story. It says they got married in the SLC Temple - that's the real Mormon Church - not the breakaway that practices polygamy.
They crossed a State line. It looks like they are just facing charges in Utah, but they could be charged in Colorado and in Federal court too, I think.
I bet it will be fun for the bride to explain to her children why Grandpa and Grandma live in prison...
POLYGAMY???
"I'll bet this guy is a REAL loser and her parents felt they were protecting her."
Sure. The concept of a completely disfunctional family isn't even on the radar.
If they got married in the Temple - as the story says - they are both LDS
(thinking to self: Egad. what a lot of ignorance there still is about the Mormon Church.)
A couple notes, folks: The Mormon Church does not practice or allow polygamy and only church members can marry in the Temple
I was going to point that out but I see its been covered. Lots of ignorance about the Mormon church out there. Reminds me of the total ignorance about the Church of Christ when the Mary Winkler case was being discussed. By the way, in case anybody wondered what happened to Mrs. Winkler, she is living in McMinnville again, with some woman in town. She has a job at the local dry cleaners. She just wants to "get on with her life". I think she has forgotten one little incident in her life.
Im probably the one and only case anyone has heard of where me, a nice guy with a head on his shoulders, not ugly (average looking) and with a career was flatly told my future wife's father said "No." when I asked permission to take his daughter's hand in marriage.
It really wasnt about me, it was about his inability to let go of his daughter.
The guy loves me like his son and regrets his actions. I joke with him now and he accepts the brunt.
