Rice to Abbas: We have great admiration for your leadership
JERUSALEM POST ^ | Oct. 4, 2006 | AP

"We have great admiration for you and leadership," US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice told Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas at a press conference on Wednesday following their meeting in Ramallah.

Rice added that the US was "very concerned" about the plight of the Palestinians and pledged to improve living conditions in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

She said that the US would "redouble efforts" to help the Palestinians.

The secretary of state went on to say that the US was aware of the hard work that needed to be done in order to achieve a two state solution but said that the US remained committed to the cause.

"You have the strong support of the US and a personnel commitment from President George Bush and I," she pledged.

Someone get Rice a subscription to some news source. Point her to stories published on FreeRepublic at least.

You need Rice's superior intellect, I guess, to understand just how Abbas's ADMIRABLE leadership is manifested.

You want a State of Denial? Or Denial at State? Here you go.

It is called diplomacy, which is defined as saying or promising things you don't really mean in order to influence and coerce people or governments.

So we now officially "admire" this scumbag? Take a gander at his bio, Candi-ass - he thinks that the Holocaust didn't occur, thinks that Zionists are Nazis and helped to arrange the financing for the 1972 Munich massacre. Geez, I'd hate to see what kind of people you disapprove of or dislike.

Rice needs to resign or be fired, and to not let the door hit her in the ass on the way out.

Putting Condi in charge of State is like putting the company secretary in charge of the board room. Over their heads.

Maybe some people do not realize diplomacy is being nice to people you do not like sometimes but nonetheless you must work with. Do you really believe we could completely be honest with all of the world all of the time and really tell them what we think? No more than you or I could with our boss or coworkers.

First of all you accomplish nothing positive if the foundation of policy is a lie.

Second, this is much more insidious then simply praising this old terrorist who is showing NO, ZERO, positive contribution.

Because after you praise Abbas, you then go to Israel to force disastrous concessions in an attempt to prop up this terrorist who is inefectual to anything good and is politically- and maybe physically- living on borrowed time.

But the Israeli concessions live on to Israel's- and almost always, the US's, detriment.

Are you sure? I bet you're not taking into account that she plays the piano.

I believe the best thing we could do for the Palestinians is to buy weapons for both sides and see that they dont run out of ammunition in their Civil war.

Bingo.

90% of diplomacy is bullsh*t. We need to keep that in mind when we hear things like this.

Which is a more verbose way of saying 'pathetic'. Say what you mean and mean what you say. It's a very simple principle. Anything less dishonorable.
