SEAN HANNITY, CO-HOST: It was one of the biggest congressional scandals in our country's history. It was called Abscam. Undercover FBI agents posed as Middle Eastern businessman and attempted to bribe members of the U.S. Congress in return for political favors for a fictional Arab sheik.

Now, 31 officials were targeted and when the dust cleared, one senator and five members of the House were convicted on bribery and conspiracy charges.

But one man who was caught on tape with the undercover agents was never indicted. His name: Congressman John Murtha of Pennsylvania. Now, after 26 years, the tape of Murtha's meeting is finally being seen by the public...

"Some have said that while Murtha's actions weren't criminal, one must ask themselves after watching the tape, were his actions unethical?"

"Some" are wrong.

Murtha's actions WERE criminal because even tho he didn't make a deal 'directly' he did use a middle man and anyone with half a brain, which apparently the FBI doesn't have, would have recognized a 'conspiracy to commit' crime.

Somebody in the FBI is protecting Murtha and needs to be exposed.

So refreshingly straightforward. "I tracked it down. I published it as soon as I got it. Here it is." No hoarding for years until just the right moment, no secret leaking, no fake blogs.

Could it be that the Foley business was done to obscure the Murtha business?

Of course not he's a democrat. That clears the way for treason, bribe taking, drunken driving that results in death, rape, pedophillia, prostitution rings run out of your house, selling nuclear technology, taking contributions from the communist red army, stuffing bribes into your freezer, having the state pay for your sex line phone calls, culling threw the garbage of your opponents, eves dropping on cell phone calls and releasing the private conversation publically, being a leader of the KKK, fathering out-of-wedlock children with your mistress, etc., etc..

Foley business is taking oxygen from campaigning just when Republicans, especially President Bush, are getting rolling.

The other six who were indicted, where are they now? Do they still get their pensions? Anyone?

Actually, I believe 5 were convicted and are now serving prison terms.

Murtha seems to have 'dodged the bullet'.

Actually, since he is up for reelection now, this would be the right time for an 'October Suprise'.

That is what I was thinking too.

Everyone, spread the news of this tape around! This can boot Murtha!

Would you not love the GOP, RNC or Irey herself to call for his stepdown because of the look of impropiety??? Just love it.

"bella pelosi" absolutely hilarious and appropriate title for her! Thanks for the laugh.

there is an old song from Bauhaus called "Bela Lugosi's Dead" - great song and it would work well in an opponent's ad against her.

The kind of language Murtha used was intended to convey a slightly open door ("not at this time"), implying that not only was he trying not to offend the offeror of the money, he was making certain they were not to treat his rejection of the money as a moral stance.

A clear leader would have reported this matter to the authorities, even if he did it quietly after the meeting was over.

Agreed Holman pursued and released this Murtha tape in election-timely fashion, but he is straightforward about what he did. Holman didn't hoard the information for two years the way the Foley evidence was.
