In other words, there is no room in the Republican party for a gay man?

If the Republican Party hasn't learned a lesson from this fiasco then they are hopeless. I doubt if there is any way to keep gay congressmen out of the "Romper Room" and eventually getting burned by the MSM. From now on it will really be like having an Elephant in the room.

In other words, there is no room in the Republican party for a gay man? A gay Republican will not have the same protection by the media afforded gay democrats. e.g. Gary Studds and Barney Frank.
Democrats are perceived as the gay party. So outing a gay Democrat is a dog bites man story. Uninteresting. But outing a gay Republican is a man bites dog story.

The larger question is, "why do otherwise intelligent, reasoning adults seem to think that the term 'homo sapiens' means that our species naturally includes queers?"
"For a bunch of damn people who can't reproduce, there sure are gettin' to be a bunch of 'em, and we oughta be as concerned about it as we would about a termite infestation in a National Forest!"

I didn't get that from the posting. My take was that Foley became a Republican, not because he espoused the party's values and beliefs, but rather to help him win political office in a conservative district.
I hope that's not what the poster meant. It would sadden me to think my party would consider anyone unwelcome solely on the basis of their sexual preference! I know many think it's wrong to be gay, to the extent of considering it a sin, but for me that's a matter to be taken up between the gay person and God when the time comes. A gay person's behavior can certainly cross the line in my mind when they engage in acts that endanger others, but simply being attracted to persons of the same sex rather than the opposite sex is hardly a problem.

According to the rats, no. They wanted him 'out' and 'outed'. Your beef is with the rats, not the GOP.

In other words, there is no room in the Republican party for a gay man?Sure there is. Just so long, however, as he's aware the Democrats will feel free to advocate that he be hated, denounced as a pedophile (even if he didn't touch a child) and have his private communications with consenting adults violated and published. IOW, so long as he knows that he'll be treated pretty much like Dims treat Black Republicans.
