Allright, here's some legal advice: Don't trust legal advice you get from anonymous strangers on an Internet board.
I could not post from Pasionate America's site because it is from blogspot, so you will have to go to Macranger's first then click over to Passionate America. Wild Bill is requesting any advice from you legal eagles out there.
My advice, short and to the point:
Get a lawyer.
I'm not a lawyer, but I would remove it to save myself legal trouble, but only after everbody who wants the info has already read it and saved it off my server.
I never heard of a lawyer sending what amounts to a cease and desist request through email rather than via courier or other traceable means.
Don't do a thing until you find a lawyer who can make his name on your case.
FREEPERS!!
Call your Constitutional Law friends....
I would tell Wild Bill to tell that attorney that he will take the story off the website just as soon as ABC and the rest of the MSM stops reporting on it.
"Freedom of the Press" isn't just for the Big 3 and the BBC.
Well, it's a free speech issue so surely the ACLU will want to help out...NOT.
I am not a lawyer. But doesn't Mark Levin specialize in Constitutional Law. Get Wild Bill in contact with the Great One!
1. Get a lawyer, like yesterday.
2. Tell him, "I'll be happy to take the story down, once my attorney tells me to or once you show me your court order."
Tell that 2 bit shyster to go fuck himself and then report him to the Oklahoma Bar Association....
Tell him to POUND SALT! Then get a lawyer!!
So Jones reads Passionate America but does not read The Drudge Report?
That doesn't sound right. I don't know of an attorney that would do something like that via email. Could've come from Edmund himself?
Imagine that--Jordie's lawyer is threatening folks. And just think--when I suggested a few days ago that Jordie was getting a bigshot mouthpiece as an attack dog, I was ridiculed for suggesting that a 'criminal attorney' would be hired for that purpose.
Tell him to take it up with ABC...they're the ones who didn't redact the screen name.
WTF good is it going to do now? It's all over the web.
Dear William Kerr and Passionate America:
Please be advised that I represent Jordan Edmund. It is our understanding that you and Passionate American are identifying Mr. Edmund with certain Instant Messages ("IMs"). You have indicated that ABC News mistakenly published these alleged Ims and that you should not have been able to obtain this information. Whether this is true or not is beside the point. Without any foundation or legal permission, you are stating that our client is the person associated with the Ims. Neither ABC News nor Brian Ross have been error free in their reporting in the past. You should not assume that they are correct now. Like all individuals and institutions, they occasionally make mistakes. Therefore, I respectfully demand that you cease any further efforts to identify our client with these alleged Ims and cease publishing such information on Passionate America. Neither you nor Passionate American is authorized to use any photograph of him, his name or his personal information. You should consult with an attorney who is experienced in civil and criminal liability regarding the internet. If you are correct that ABC News should not have released the alleged AOL screen name and that ABC News has risked civil and criminal liability because of the unauthorized release, then your republication of the unauthorized release likewise exposes you to possible liability.
Sincerely,
Stephen Jones
