ABC Scrambling to Put Some Meat on Ross' Story
The American Thinker ^ | 10/7/06 | Clarice Feldman

Posted on 10/07/2006 8:02:39 AM PDT by rmgatto

As time passes, it is increasingly clear that the ABC News report which started the Foley firestorm is odorous—and I’m not talking Chanel.

(1) It dealt with the emails which the FBI and many media organizations considered as innocuous as the Republican leadership did. Who circulated these reports is not yet clear.Foley’s spokesman said his opponent, Mahoney had been shopping the story to the media for some time....(much more)

Ms. Feldman is a gifted thinker and writer. The simplicity of her presentation is breathtaking, especially when compared to the drive-by media terrorists who have no respect for the truth. A must read this Saturday morning.

This is another example, why we can not have a Pelosi house and A Reid senate because his is how they operate on a daily basis. I for one do not want to go through two more years of this pathetic crap. There is no difference between Foleygate and Plamegate, in the set-up and smaearing on innocent republican leadership, while the donks were th eones conspiring behind the scenes. This is donk 101 dirty tricks becausethe ycan not win on their agenda. I am sick of this and I will do my best to make the donks pay this election. Screw them, I am not going to assist Pelosi or Reid gain power!

I think it's very interesting that Ross is pushing unsubstantiated rumors about other pages coming forward that even ABC can't publish.

I am hopeful that this story is proceeding quickly (and superficially) enough that much of the truth will be recognizable as such shortly. The democrat line here seems a bit thin--especially for middle America. Ms. Feldman's stories is immensely more intelligent than 90% of the sensational MSM pieces and I hope hers get the exposure they deserve.

I believe that Brian already had his GM pickup explosion moment and had to leave NBC.

"GM subsequently filed an anti-defamation lawsuit against NBC. The lawsuit in question was quickly settled by NBC and as a result Brian Ross and a few persons responsible for the incident were fired from NBC, and Ross found employment with ABC News, where he continues to work to this day."

Problem is Foley resigned. Why?? At this late date, it virtually assured the dems would pick up his seat. So staying in and fighting the allegations, if untrue, wouldn't have done any more damage than has already been done, plus it would have taken some heat off of Hastert and the other house repubs. Foley may still have lost, but maybe he wouldn't have brought so many others down with him.

One must believe that there is truth to the story or maybe there is something worse....

Great read but I'm concerened about the damage already done. I went to a public seminar yesterday. The feeling on the street is Foley is a pervert, Hastert must go, and The GOP is in trouble, and these were business people, not all Dims. Unless there is a big ABC mea culpa, it will hurt.

Q. How does someone who betrays his employer, the public trust, his "profession" and an innocent victim ever look at himself in the mirror? A. He has no shame.

Ross is one of a long line of liberals who lack the shame gene, a necessary component of fully developed humanity. We can all, I'm sure, easily list many who will fall into the circle of hell reserved for these miscreants.

"SSP did not get any original emails from a Page or friend of the Page. That is clear because all emails have a date field (magically missing from the SSP creations). The emails at SSP are clearly forgeries that were based on the information in the posession of CREW and ABC News because the text is accurate, just not all the punctuation. And SSP went out of their way to over-copy their faked versions in order to make them look old (a classic naive trick when any electronic file attached to an email or any email forwarded can be printed pristine by the receiver).

So the SSP site is a fake as everyone suspected. But who was the source for ABCNews and CREW which redacted so much of the headers on the emails?

I think it's true that Foley is homosexual. It's not yet clear whether he has had relations with a minor page or not, since the page in the ABC story appears to have been 18. Moreover, I believe the age of consent in DC is 17.

A couple of other pages, not themselves homosexuals, appear to have led Foley on by pretending to flirt with him in emails or instant messages.

At the same time, all these pages talked, and the Democrat operatives got hold of the story months ago, possibly years ago, but sat on it until the day it was too late for Foley to remove his name from the ballot.

So, it appears to be true that Foley is a sleaze, and good riddance to him. But it also appears to be true that the Democrats knew about this for months and years but did nothing. Yet they demanded that Speaker Hastert resign for not exposing Foley earlier, even though Hastert knew far less than they did, and in fact what Hastert knew appears to have been mild.

So Hastert did what he should have done, I think--warned Foley to behave himself. What would the Democrats have said if the Republicans forced Foley to resign because he was gay?

On top of everything else, there are fake websites, fake messages, falsified messages, and exposed ties between Democratic operatives and their pimps in the news media, eager to do their bidding, and to do it on the specific day that is most damaging to the Republicans.

The question is: Why do we allow them to force us into calling them gays? They are homosexuals.

As I think Father Neuhaus has pointed out, "homosexual" is a clinical term for their condition. "Gay" is essentially a political term. So, homosexual is what they are, but "gay" refers to their political agenda and beliefs.

So, Foley is a homosexual insofar as he prefers sex with males, but he is gay insofar as he follows the gay rights political movement. I didn't really know anything about Foley before this story broke, but I gather that he adheres to the gay political agenda on matters such as abortion, another reason why it's just as well he is no longer in congress.

Maybe I will disagree with many posters....

I don't see how anybody can view this incident as a "set-up"... Foley was sexually harassing teenage male pages. That's a fact.

And anybody that sees an email from a 50yo gay man to a 16yo boy asking for his picture... they should be asking some serious questions.

Feldman's reasoning seems convoluted.

Bottom line: homo's exploit other homo's to hurt Republicans?

I started to answer your question, and found things getting more and more complicated. The fact is, bottom line, the gay political position is unnatural and delusional. It requires you to draw all sorts of lines between what's politically correct and what isn't, and in a case like this they endanger themselves by revealing the contradictions inherent in their beliefs.

The same thing threatened to happen with the left wing media attack on pedophile priests. They tried to draw a sharp line between pedophile priests (horrible) and gays (wonderful), but the lines in fact blur. The great majority of the priests in question were not, in fact, pederasts but ephebophiles, or lovers of young men. They were, in fact, almost all homosexuals.

So, what started out as an anti-Catholic campaign turned into a campaign to weed homosexuals out of the priesthood. Naturally they didn't intend anything like that.
