It's political correctness, and PC will kill us if we let it.

Agreed.  Aside from the ballot box, one of the few weapons that the average person has in such a fight is their wallet.  If we spend our money in ways that reminds the airlines that we are paying their salaries, and they are not doing their jobs correctly, perhaps they will wake up and take notice.

Nobody likes the feeling of being unsafe while trapped in a closed environment, and the airlines inflict that feeling upon millions of people every day, while arrogantly telling us that we are racists if we complain.

It's long past time for us to take back the skies from these subhuman seventh-century throwbacks who love to blow up our airplanes because they could never build one themselves..

And add exponential annoyance when you have 4 kids you are trying to take with you through that airport and on that plane. My last flight happened to be a few months before 9/11, and at that point, I had already sworn never again. Our only problem with not flying will be if we ever make it to Hawaii, and if Europe doesn't become Islamic, I have promised the kids I will take them in about 10 years.

We love our road trips- and even when we don't, they still become fond memories after time.

I know that there's no 'perfect' solution for travel to Hawaii or Europe without air travel.  I wonder how much extra time a freighter or cruise ship passage from the West Coast to Hawaii would be? I know that for most people, the idea of factoring in an extra week just for travel would make a trip impractical or impossible...every day spent at sea is a day of Italian museum or gallery tours that you've missed..  Hopefully, in time, fast-passage steamship companies will come into being as a response to the public's unhappiness with air travel, and hopefully by the time frame you mention the airline industry will have developed a more reality-based approach.to passenger screening that will make us all feel safer.

Thanks.

Liberal women should hope that we win this WOT or they will all be wearing burkas, too.

Ah, dear friend, what I have learned from my time on this earth is that bureaucrats/guvvies/inspectors have a distinct aversion to three specific types and want as little to do with them as possible. They are: Drunks, lunatics and mothers with small children.

They go out of their way to avoid these types, usually waving them through as rapidly as possible.

Your children may be your greatest asset!
