UN Should Congratulate North Korea, Says Ambassador (NK Ambassador)
Breaking News .ie ^ | 10/9/06

The UN Security Council should congratulate North Korea for its nuclear test instead of passing “useless” resolutions or statements, the country's UN ambassador said today.

Pak Gil Yon told reporters he was proud of the North Koreans who conducted the test, and the Security Council ought to be, too. Asked if the North planned any more tests, Pak said: “That will be enough. You don’t think so?”

The Council was holding a meeting about the test, and several diplomats warned of tough measures, possibly including the threat of sanctions.

“It will be better for the Security Council of the United Nations to congratulate the DPRK scientists and researchers instead of doing such notorious, useless and rigorous resolutions or whatever,” Pak said, referring to the North by its formal name, the Democratic People’s Republic of North Korea.

While many council members said the test would be a threat to international peace and security, Pak claimed just the opposite. He said the test would guarantee “peace and security in the peninsula and the region”.

LOL! I kinda like this guy.

NK or not, anyone willing to jam a thumb in the UN's eye is OK by me.

I think we should congratulate them as well. Give them an American-made nuke to match the one they just detonated. We'll even set it off for them like a fireworks show.

Yeah, and the Pope should turn Muslim, too.

Bears, ever the fastidious creatures they are, should go to highway rest stops to defecate, as well.

I could be wrong, but every country that has developed nuclear weapons has retained them, except for South Africa.

Iraq never exploded an actual nuke. I think we were hoping that by attacking a relatively weak country like Iraq, we would dissuade North Korea and others from proceeding. That gambit has failed and we find ourselves in a completely new situation. Any country that possesses nukes, no matter how tiny, now has a full deck.

If this doesn't prove those little #$%kers are crazy, then I don't know what will. I will hand it to this guy though, he does have a set of "grapefruit" on him to make a comment like that.

Shouldn't we get to "haze" them before welcoming them to "the club?"

You do have a point.

I guess I should have said its pretty funny that the NK Rep. can just basically say "Your pissed? You should be thanking me!" Just the absolute contempt he has for the UN is astounding. I agree the UN is deserving of this disrespect but for a diplomat to come out and say something like this is amazing to me.
