AAP by way of The Australian ^ | 10OCT06 | AAP

Mr Keating said . . . "My great concern is that Japan may use the impasse of North Korea and this testing of its nuclear weapons to move into nuclear weapons itself, eschewing the nuclear protection provided to it by the United States under its umbrella," he told a business breakfast.

Japan can produce a nuclear device in six days and a nuclear weapon in six weeks. Within about five years it could have a nuclear arsenal larger than that of China and Israel combined, plus delivery capability by any means the Japanese government chooses.

Japan has the ability to become a nuclear superpower within a very short period.

The Japanese are scared silly...and with good reason. The South Koreans (at least the ones under 60 years old) are too damn stupid to be scared. And the Chinese and the Russians are laughing their a$$es off...but not publicly.

Thing is that would put S. Korea more into China and N. Korea's orbit. Few people really want the Japanese to have an aggressive military in that part of the world.

They need to be ready because a Demoncrap congress and/or president would not have the gonads to protect them.

Japan needs nuclear weapons.
They are the only solid, unwavering American ally in East Asia.

Smart money's on Japan already having the tech on the shelf, undeployed, ready for emergencies.

Seconding this. Within weeks, Japan could have an ICBM - they could conceivably, by December, have a missile that would launch, take a three day trip around the orbit of the moon, land, eject a bipedal robot with a beanie and a parachute, whereupon it would extend gigantic speakers and play the "Go Speed Racer GO" theme song, land, have it walk up to Dear Leader's front door, tapdance and knock on said door, recognize the face of the person opening that door, yell "HAHAHAHA- SUPRISE!" and explode in a blast of around 10 megatons.

Plus, there'd probably be full TV coverage of the entire trip and a breakfast cereal released for the event.

Give them until March, and they'd REALLY get inventive.

Huh? A nuclear armed Japan cannot be bullied by China and that's not what China wants.

China, Russia and Pakistain along with the Clinton admin are responsible for this mess.

* Above - "a three day trip around the orbit of the moon, land" should be "a three day trip around the orbit of the moon and return to Earth, land..."
