A fully loaded B-52 hitting the empire state building, brings it down. Really? I always thought that the B-52 was based (loosely,at least) on the 707...which is substantially smaller and lighter than the 767.
Granted if it has a full compliment of ordnance...that detonates upon/after impact you've got a different story.

Don't know how much credit to give this, but Neil Cavuto just stated twice that he heard the pilot might have been Yankee pitcher Cory Lidle.
No flames please, just reporting what I just heard on his show while he was interviewing Charlie Rangle.

It's also interesting that the article is dated today, October 11th, but the text heading says September 11. Kind of spooky.

A B-25 is small and light in comparisonBut a whole carrier of B-25s can do a lot of damage...to the psyche of the enemy at least!

ABC cannot even get this one right. The last time a plane crashed into a New York City skyscraper was September 11, 2001.

I was wondering when someone was going to point this out.
If the Drive-by Media had its way - down the memory hole.

Is this from today? The date says September 11 and I'm not even sure that's 9/11 of this year.

NO! The B-52 is is not even remotely like a 707.
Also a B-25 is MUCH smaller than a 707, 767, OR B-52

Could it be due to less fuel in that plane?

Take off weight of a B-52 is 480,000 lbs
Take off weight of a B-25 is 35,000 lbs.
You can do the math.
Take off weight of a 767 is only about 400,000 lbs.
You do not want to be in a building hit by a B-52

They sure don't build 'em like they used to... The World Trade Centers could, almost certainly, have sustained a collision comparable to the ESB one with minimal damage.
The jets which hit the World Trade Centers were several times heavier than a B-25, with proportionately larger fuel tanks, which were nearly full (instead of nearly empty), and were traveling much faster when they hit. The net effect of all this is that each of the jets had to dissipate about 2 orders of magnitude more energy (both kinetic and potential) than was the case with the B-25.
Think of the difference between a motorcycle, with a nearly empty fuel tank, hitting a house, at 30 mph, then imagine a truck, with a nearly full fuel tank, hitting the same house, at 60 mph, and you will get an idea of the difference.

This is a spoof site. Look at the url :
http://abcnews.go.com/US/story?id=92525&page=1
abcnews.GO.COM ??
And look at the opening of the story, "Sept. 11 The last time a plane crashed into a New York City skyscraper was July 28, 1945."
Granted the date at the top of the article is 10/11/2006 but the rest is a dead giveaway........
