N. Korea: Another Nuclear Test as Early as in 2~3 Days
S. Korean government is trying to verify intelligence that N. Korea is to conduct another nuclear test soon, according to Oct. 12 report of Munhwa Ilbo.
Quoting a reliable source on N. Korea, it reported, "Many indications from N. Korea point to the high likelihood that N. Korea would conduct another nuclear test in two or three days. We received intelligence on Oct. 11 that says N. Korean military is showing unusual movements."
Alexander Downer, Australian Foreign Minister, said on Oct. 11(Australian time), "We have intelligence that N. Korea would have another nuclear test soon. We are very concerned about it."
In a related development, Kim Myong-chol, who is called the (unofficial) spokesman of Kim Jong-il, said in his interview with (S. Korea's) KBS Radio, "Everything will be settled in a week. That is, whether we, Korean people, will remain as we are now, or lose, or New York will lose, or Washington D.C. will lose, it will be settled once and for all."

OK, Chia Head is about to ruin another weekend, and either do or die in a week? Even as a bombastic drivel, this is getting a little creepy.
What a farce it would be if the second test also fizzles as the first one most likely did.
Anyway, indications are that Chia Head's days are numbered.

Good! The best thing that could happen is Kim using up his stock of fissile material.

"N. Korea is to conduct another nuclear test soon,"
Next time, they need to light the fuse. Popping a grocery bag next to a microphone ain't gonna git it.
NK General: Shoot!
NK Soldier: Yes sir (pulls out weapon and starts shooting scienties)
NK General: NO NO! I mean't, "Dang!" uh..."Crap!"
NK Soldier: Ohhhhhh.
NK General: (looks around) Give me that paper bag and mic.
NK Soldier: Huh?

He's got a lot riding on these nuclear tests. As brinkmanship goes, you can only push the envelope so far. The DPRK is rapidly approaching the point where they either need to make good on a threat, or be seen as a harmless yapping dog.
The DPRK must acquire and maintain a certain level of income in order to remain afloat. Kim Jong Il is gambling that the fear generated by nuclear weapons will be sufficient to keep North Korea going. His elites will back this gambit, so long as it has a chance of working.
It's all a bluff, to the extent that what Kim is ultimately threatening is completely suicidal. He needs us to fold first, because he can't win with the hand he has. If the North Korean elites see that we're not going to fold, they may force Kim to, rather than risk going down with him.
Forcing Kim to fold will likely involve killing him, and assuming control of the country, and that's a very dangerous course of actions. Clearly, the safest move is for them to give Kim's plan time to work. If sanctions pile up, and North Korea is seen as failing in it's bid to win concessions from their neighbors, Kim's life will be increasingly in danger.

"We received intelligence on Oct. 11 that says N. Korean military is showing unusual movements" I wonder if this is regarding movement around a possible test site or whether its "unusual movements" in general?

Russia, or simply Russian scientists who know what they're doing, and are willing to help in exchange for cash. Either hand helping North Korea indicates that we ignore this threat at our peril.
Secrecy is all important to the North Koreans. That they picked a method of testing their weapon (or weapon trigger) without showing their cards, is to be expected.

Saying that "Kim the ILL" didn't think this thing through well enough is probably the understatement of the year.
It is closing on winter in North Korea. Famine, moronic communist government agricultural mismanagement, epidemic disease, and a poorly trained/disciplined military are the modern mainstays of N. Korea. Kim has effectively shut the door on getting more help from the outside, barring grain and basic foodstuffs (all of which he gives to his military in the "Army First" program). Another winter, another period of waiting for N. Korea to disintegrate. Hopefully, N. Korea will die with a wimper, but I am betting that "Kim the ILL" will try to take everyone with him.
Now the proposed US/Japanese embargo correctly goes after his powerbase: Military items and luxury goods. All weapon systems, regardless of who makes them, need more repair parts in winter. With the terrain and lack of infrastructure, N. Korea has enough trouble maintaining what its got, let alone fixing weapons in the cold with only rebuilt or rigged parts. Also, all the trucks and aircraft needed to transport the parts also need repairs. In short, the higher end weapons, planes, and artillery pieces of N. Korea are in for a hard winter. However, the rifles and infantry weapons would still work so Kim could use (even more) force to keep his serfs at bay and him in power.
With the luxury items, Kim's bunch of bootlicking leftist elities will not be able to party and live in their caviar filled, glutinous lifestyles. If Kim cannot keep his toadies sedated, they may seek a greener pasture, especially knowing that the average S. Korean businessman still lives better than they do. This boads ill for "Kim the ILL".
Yet the little moron keeps right on being "stuck on stupid". It's like watching Dr Evil, only this time the fool possibly has a nuclear device. Can Kim's next No-Dong (what a name) launch be tolerated as easily as the last failed flight test? Or do we assume that it is a live missile?
Thank God that the ABM sites are coming online. Now they have to just work perfectly. If we only had more. That said, thanks to the treason, stupidity, and irresponsibility of the leftists who weakened America in the 90s, we now have to dig up those old fallout shelter construction manuals.
