San Francisco public officials and leaders of the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community are demanding that a prominent radio host and television news anchor apologize for comments he made on the air about nontraditional families.
Pete Wilson, the anchor of ABC's local evening news and host of a radio show on KGO 810 AM, criticized Supervisor Bevan Dufty and his friend Rebecca Goldfader, who are sharing a home and co-parenting a newborn, during a radio broadcast Tuesday.
Their daughter, Sydney, was born last week. Wilson, who said he supports same-sex marriage and lesbian and gay couples raising children, referred to her as an "experiment" because they're not in a romantic relationship.
"The Dufty-Goldfader baby is, in my mind, a travesty," Wilson said during an hour he devoted to the topic on air. "Or a potential travesty. Perhaps that's a better way of saying it."
Later in his show, Wilson said, "At some point there is a limit to how far we stretch the self-indulgent search for the alternative that we have been involved in the last 30 or 40 years in this country."

Fatwa!
Aplogize for what exactly?
So they are just a couple of friends deciding, hey lets have a kid. How dare anybody question that. What two consenting adults do for kicks to a nonconsenting child is their business.
For the record, this Pete Wilson is NOT the former Governor
I'm outraged too. This arrangement should be referred to as an "abomination"

If what I just wrote made you sad or angry,
it was probably just a joke.
I'm not sure I understand. These are a gay man and a lesbian woman who are living together platonically and are having a baby together???!!!
If they were two friends wanting to raise a child, why didn't they just adopt? I hope nobody would be against that.
For having the audacity to question anyone's lifestyle choice. Whatever any two people decide to do can not be quesitioned, it must be praised.
That is not saying much. Not much at all.
"San Francisco public officials and leaders of the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community "
That's pretty much the whole damn town isn't it?
I'd like an apology from the Gay community of SF for driving families out of the city and having it named the most kid unfriendly big city in the country. Housing prices, notwithstanding.
They also angered Muslims, but that is so much a given these days that the story didn't bother to mention it.
The queers in SF at it again.
Me and a couple beer buddies decide it would be cool to adopt a kid. We figure he can get our beers from the fridge for us. Yes, I think you can be against adopting kids out to 'parents' who are just friends. There is no committed relationship there. What happens with the lesbian finds here 'true' love and wants to take the kid. Who gets the kid? The kid is basically condemned into being from a broken home from day 1.
So the garbage, bacon, lettuce, tomato and optional sauce group is upset about what? The fact that a gay man had sex with a straight woman?
The Gaystapo strikes again.
"abomination"
In Media-speak, the only people who can possibly commit ""abominations" are Republicans...
There WAS a time in America when an arrangement such as this would result in a massive response from Child Protective Services, but since Democrats and Liberals are no longer required or even expected to be moral, how can you be outraged??
Gay, lesbian, bisexual oh yeah and the real freaks the transgenders, now that is how I think of San Francisco.
