More than five years after President Bush created the Office of Faith-Based Initiatives, the former second-in-command of that office is going public with an insiders tell-all account that portrays an office used almost exclusively to win political points with both evangelical Christians and traditionally Democratic minorities.[..] National Christian leaders received hugs and smiles in person and then were dismissed behind their backs and described as ridiculous, out of control, and just plain goofy, Kuo writes

Another "tell all book" just in time for the election.
Predictable.

Another "tell all book" just in time for the election. Bttt
Does one really expect people in the know to take all these Bush bashing books seriously as they're released at election time?

Who is Kuo?
Tempting Faiths author is David Kuo, who served as special assistant to the president from 2001 to 2003. A self-described conservative Christian, Kuos previous experience includes work for prominent conservatives including former Education Secretary and federal drug czar Bill Bennett and former Attorney General John Ashcroft. So Chief Justice Roberts and Justice Alito are just chopped liver?
And I say that even though I'm totally at odds with Dubya's Clintonian
attempts to sell Amnesty for illegals.

Has it ever occurred to the Dim-wits that evangelicals are "using" Republicans, just as surely as Republicans are "using" them? What on earth are they thinking, that religious people, who care about morality, are going to help them regain power and undo what has been accomplished thus far? The faith of evangelicals is not drawn from political belief but the other way around, unlike the secular left. Until they understand this, the Dims will flounder. And when they do understand this, they'll understand that they've plotted and planned for nothing.

David Kuo wrote the following in 2005. Doesn't seem to line up with the posted article.
I served in the White House for two-and-a-half years as a Special Assistant to the president and eventually as Deputy Director of the Faith-Based Initiative. I have deep respect, appreciation, and affection for the president. No one who knows him even a tiny bit doubts the sincerity and compassion of his heart. Likewise, the people around the president are good and caring people. I know this firsthand because I experienced it during a health crisis in my own life when their kindness was evident.

I had the same thought. Hopefully he will get one more chance to do "nothing" for Christians with a Supreme Court appointment.
