Taxing would kill most small churches and it would give the govt more power than they have now.

I disagree. It takes only ten tithing adults to support the lead pastor (elder), ten more to support the meeting place, ten more to begin missions. If your church is not tithing and fails because you are now paying taxes, there are other problems not associated with tax exemption.

I’m just curious, say if a church forgoes its tax exemption...just how is it taxed...like a private club? A business?
