Great comment.

If I did I would name my coffee table Tom McClintock. He's a bit different, but exactly what this state needs.

Just an honest question: how is liberal idiocy to blame for overpriced houses? High taxes I understand, but overpriced houses?

I would think a booming economy, low interest rates, and deregulation in lending rules (all of which I do NOT associate with liberals) are the factors that have lead to overpriced houses. Hey, if people want to pay it, who am I (or you) to stop them.

They make the building of new houses all but impossible through extensive building restrictions, "open-space" laws, environmental regulations, etc.

In so doing they've artificially reduced supply and therefore increased demand. The result is that prices are ridiculously high. People can pay whatever they'd like, but I'd point out that it's only in the most liberal of cities that you see people buying 800 sq ft houses for $500,000 with the sole purpose of reselling that same property at a handsome profit 60 days later. That can only last so long, hence the "housing bubble". The rest of us are fortunate in that it isn't really a bubble at all but a few isolated areas in which liberal idiocy has prevailed.

California has a "housing bubble" burst about every 15 years.

This election will emphasize the importance of voters registered as "Decline to State". They comprise nearly 19% of registered voters in California. Their numbers are great enough that they could easily make either party an outright majority, but the two parties are not taking them seriously enough yet. The Decline to State registered voters outnumber all the third parties combined by more than 4 to 1. They are a combined 2.9 million voters to the Republican registration of 5.35 million and the Democrats 6.66 million registered voters.

I am one of this block. While I can't speak for the this entire group, I can speak for myself and others I know that have registered as Decline to State. Most are more conservative than the Republican Party is presently, and switched their registration from the Republican Party.

Generally we are not accepting of candidates that seek office with campaign ads that offer no candidate credentials, but seek only to paint the opponent in a negative light.

Chuck Poochigian's campaign is a perfect example. I really dislike Jerry Brown, but not a single Poochigian campaign ad has surfaced speaking of the merits and qualifications of Chuck Poochigian, and the state Republican Party wonders why he is losing in the polls. If Chuck Poochigian is qualified to be the next Attorney General, and I believe he is, make that case to the voters. To understand Chuck Poochigian is qualified voters need to know where he stands on issues. His site published his views on issues that would involve the Attorney General, but aside from the web site, the party is doing a woefully poor job of communicating Chuck Poochigians views.

I'd dare gamble the ads being run for the Poochigian campaign right now make more mention of Jerry Brown than the candidate they are meant to assist. If name recognition means anything at the polls, the state Republican Party and Poochigian campaign have not only been shooting themselves in both feet, they kneecapped themselves too and working up towards the heart. At the least they could insert Chuck Poochigian's name if they can stop thinking of the campaign as being just an anti-Jerry Brown campaign.

Back to the Decline to State registered voters. This is a very large block of voters that could easily find their way into the Republican results if Republicans ever consider speaking to us. To date the two parties have hoodwinked themselves and each other into believing the election is about Democrats and Republicans only. The 2.9 million voters the two parties deny existing will decide this election.

Angelides is a cold fish... even more of a robot than John Kerry. He has a canny knack for not connecting to people.

Angelides is the fool we don't know supported and endorsed by the fools we do know.

Anybody who would accept a glowing endorsement from Boxer deserves a Pelosi Medal and a Maxine Waters "How to Win Friends" Award.

No offense, but I don't think you'll be up for any Nobel prizes for economics anytime soon.

You seem to have a deep aversion to the market. If people are buying and flipping for profit, what could possibly be your complaint about that unless you're a socialist or something (ie worse than a liberal)? It's called the MARKET, for chrissakes!

And newsflash: the demand is high in NYC because people from all over the world want to live there, and not in Dayton, Ohio. I get it, you don't like New York, but don't sit there and tell me the small fortune I've made from real estate is thanks to "liberal idiocy."

What are you advocating? A command economy where the state sets the prices to increase no more than 3% a year, and a required residence of no less than 7 years?

After the Jay Leno appearence by Arnie, Angelides came out looking like the perverbiable girley man if ever there was one.
Acts like a candidate for transgender status.

No. I'm quite aware of how markets work. I trade currency at night and I'm also a real estate broker and understand the housing market. I won't waste a bunch of time (mine or yours) because the problem seems to be that I can't get my point across - my fault.

I'm advocating a free market. A market in which supply is limited by liberal idiocy, and yes it's just that, is not a free market.

I have zero problems with people flipping for a profit. I simply said that it can't last. It won't.

Lastly, I said nothing of New York. But since you bring it up I'd like to point you to this October 2005 article which discusses the problem there. It's called "Quiet Suicide of Urban Liberalism" and it points out that 3,600 blocks in NYC have been rezoned over the last couple of years to prevent or limit new housing.

There's also a couple of nifty graphs, if you're interested. The point of the article is the one that I tried to make before - nothing to do with socialism, hating NY, or whatever the hell else you said.

Quiet Suicide of Urban Liberalism

PS - I don't value your opinion enough to trod through another one of your misguided insulting rants. So if that's all you have, save it.
