George Washington was also pretty good at the strategic retreat. Strategic is right ... he was leading a distinctly inferior force ... keeping it in existence was itself a victory. Add to that, each time he retreated he first exacted from his enemy a high price for making him retreat. Under the right circumstances, that can be a winning strategy.
