Even Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell do NOT represent the average Christian. Most Christians I know will admit that while both of those men are good, decent men, they are a bit "off the deep end" sometimes.

Out of curiousity, what has Jerry Falwell said that makes him someone who is "off the deep end?" The last public statements I recall him making were that 9/11 may have been a form of God's judgement against America for abandoning family values. Given the record of some of the things that happen in the Bible, I don't think that any Christian can realistically dismiss such a statement without weighing the possibility that it may in fact be true.

Pat Robertson went off the deep end when he tried to defend China's forced abortion policy..

I am a Roman Catholic and have had my share of discussions with Christians of many denominations, especially here at FR.

Jerry Falwell was right about Larry Flynt. Can anyone deny that Flynt opened the floodgates and turned American morality upside down? Flynt was glorified in a movie. You would need to watch it to appreciate the true horror of a couple of demented sex freak/drug addicts taking away all constraints on what can be called obscene. In 2006, you can pretty much call most of what is entertainment and media obscene. I truly believe that Falwell saw that coming all those years ago.

Pat Robertson was right about Hugo Chavez and Kim Jong Il.
I watch Pat's show fairly regularly, simply because it is a good program. It is upbeat, warm, informed, and polite.
Not edgy, snarky, sarcastic or mean-spirited, which is something I can get on 200+ other channels.
Pat Robertson is a crazy old fool? So much for the wisdom that comes with age, or respect of the elders.

Pat Robertson shouldn't have had to say those things. Somebody in the gov't should have done it long ago, because now look at the sorry state of the world with these two malignant presences still breathing.
