Slap Apple Peach Turnovers ***PASTRY******FILLING***
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2/3 cup shortening
- 6 tablespoons cold water
***TOPPING***
- 1 jar (23 oz.) chunky apple sauce
- 1 cup sliced fresh or frozen peaches
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
Directions:
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
Heat oven to 375 F. In medium bowl, combine flour and salt. Using pastry blender or 2 knives, cut shortening into flour mixture until particles are size of small peas. Gradually add water, tossing with fork until mixture is moistened. Gather pastry into ball. Divide pastry into 12 pieces.
On lightly floured surface, roll each piece into 5-inch circle. In large bowl, combine apple sauce, peaches, sugar, walnuts and 1 teaspoon cinnamon; mix well. Place about 1/4 cup of fruit mixture on half of each pastry circle; brush edges with water. Fold over; seal edges with fork. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. In small bowl, combine topping ingredients. Sprinkle over pastries. Bake at 375 F for 30 to 35 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on wire rack.

Actually .. it's all about the commitment Republicans have about voting.
I don't have to be bribed, enthused, prodded, etc.; I don't have to be wined and dined and promised the world.
I VOTE BECAUSE IT IS MY CIVIC DUTY TO VOTE. This is the SILENT MAJORITY. You don't have to do anything to get us to vote - never, ever.
The dems cannot understand how the repubs seem to get voters coming out of the woodwork to vote - HERE I AM. I vote everytime, all the time, I WOULD NEVER, EVER NOT VOTE.
The dems don't understand that because they don't have PARTIOTIC members .. they have POWER members. The dems want to get elected to have POWER - power over others, and power to line their own pockets. Most repubs want to get elected because they truly BELIEVE IN AMERICA. I can vote for repubs because they (as a general rule) support and defend those things which are most important to me: safety for me and my family; freedom to be whatever I can be.
Unless I'm dead, I WILL ALWAYS VOTE!!
Anybody who thinks differently is not an AMERICAN. Unless you vote you will be assigning America to be a loser, 3rd world nation. Our founders and our military have given the ultimate sacrifice to keep us free and prosperous.
