Fact is, you will never know what he pays in taxes. My guess is, it will be much less than 50%. Do you think the Kennedys are still worth billions because they just love paying 70% in estate taxes?

There's another point about the transfer of the land to the LLC...The reporter correctly points out that it is legally a sale...and that taxes were due at the time if the value had increased. Reid maintains that the value was the same as when he bought it years before, though he also says that Las Vegas land values have been going up...which doesn't jive. But if, at the same time he transferred the deed, he, the LLC also listed the property for sale at a much higher price...well then..that's blatant tax fraud..most telling to me was his demeanor and appearance...he repeated the same stupid mantra.." I bought a piece of land from someone I didn't know, and sold it later on to someone I didn't know.." ad nauseum..

There is no tax on wealth. Regarding the Estate tax, I'm sure they have distributed enough under the radar (the maximum before eligible) to avoid the bulk of taxation. I still get a laugh about the billions Bill Gates and Warren Buffet contributed to charity. I'm sure the Government & the IRS were wringing their hands. Oh yeah, the Kennedy's have been rumored to have various "Caribbean" accounts.

In that matter, the senator hadn't disclosed to Congress that he first sold land to a friend's limited liability company back in 2001 and took an ownership stake in the company. He collected the seven-figure payout when the company sold the land again in 2004 to others. Reid portrayed the 2004 sale as a personal sale of land, not mentioning the company's ownership or its role in the sale."

Is there any legitimate reason he would have done any of that (for the economically impaired among us, me being one)?

Thanks for the response. I ran Dario Herrera's name through GOOGLE and was amazed at the amount of information provided. Looks as if there is some very good investigative journalism being produced by the Las Vegas Mercury. I guess it is wishful thinking to consider Reid got caught up in the RICO investigation. Heavy duty stuff that, to my knowledge, never received national attention (until now). Reid's lower anatomy must be puckering!

!!!!!!!WARNING, WARNING WILL ROGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mercury Reporter George Knapp (better known for KLAS TV)is likely the reporter who compromised the GSting scandal and informed Harry Reid to run for the hills!!!

George Knapp worked for former Reid campaign manager Don Williams, and also worked for Kent Oram, campaign manager to Erin Kenny (even more crooked than Herrera). So the Mercury material is two faced!!!!!!!!!! If it comes from Knapp.

I'm trying to understand how Jim Rhoades is planning to convert water (he doesn't have yet) here in Mohave Valley into water for the 213 acres Harry has bought up in Searchlight. I know my local supervisor is against giving him water rights, but assume he will buy off the two from Bullhead and Kingman to get what he wants.

WhooHooo Carolyn!!! Now you understand why the scandal can't go away!! Jim Rhodes also got fined for laundering contributions to Harry Reid and convicted commissioner Dario Herrera. Jay Brown also at some point represented Rhodes. Convicted Commissioner Erin Kenny also worked for Rhodes. Commissionaer/lawyer Mark James who worked for Rhodes and should have been indicted, got out while the getting was good. It just gets juicier and juicier!

In the meantime these people go along their merry way, building too many homes counting on water they don't have and because they are paying off the right people and local contractors are making money no one says a thing. One of these days the fat lady had got to sing.
