Eh. Sorry, while everyone credits Rove with magnificent wisdom, the reality is that the liberals have completely blown virtually every issue.
That things got close in 2004, or that things are questionable right now, points not to genius, but to many, many blown opportunities by Rove to control the news cycle.

Media bias makes it impossible for Rove or any Republican to 'control the news cycle'. This last month has seen no less that 4 ot 5 stinkbomb books designed to tropedo the Republicans in many different ways (Woodward, Kou book, etc).

That's not the issue if the discussion is where to assign blame that these elections and control of the congress are even in question. That liability falls squarely on the shoulders of many/most Pub congresscritters and senators. With a nod at WH responsibility for contributions toward certain gaffes and missteps as well.
