When my brother (God rest his soul) took me one time to a Naval Shipyard, and brought me up to the nose of USS Kitty Hawk in drydock.
It was (and still is) the biggest thing I ever saw in my life! I was standing there awestruck!

I was with the Air Group (CAG-11 ....VA115..) on the Kitty Hawk in 1961. ( Golden Shellback ) She is still BIG!!!

According the screenshot in the article, it seems to show the Kitty Hawk and Japanese Navy operating in the East Sea as part of ANNUALEX 2006, and two more carriers shown in the Yellow Sea?
The Nimitz, John C. Stennis and Ronald Reagan are all in the pacific at the moment, so I'd assume if anything is going to be sailing to the Yellow Sea it will be those groups.

Yeah, somebody had that point before, too! :-)

No kidding. When I was in the Navy my submarine was pulled up on the opposite side of the pier of the USS Carl Vinson. It made my ship look so small! We had a tiny area on one side of the pier and the entire other side was the CVN. There was a constant throng of sailors going to the ship at all times--like a city.
We submariners were sort of annoyed by the extra security checks, it was almost as if we were going to an airport ;)

I always have to smile when I see that ship.
I got to tour the Kitty Hawk in San Diego way back when I was a cub scout. I remember how awestruck that ship made me, and how impress the sailors on board were at the number of peices of pumkin pie I ate in the mess hall.
Good memory.

No kidding. Ship's company below E-4 sucks on a carrier. What's liberty call?

When you said it was a great experience, I knew you weren't lower rate ship's company.

Actually, I was not the one who said that. I was just letting you know I was the .0001% on the thread that understood what you were saying.

Sorry, I was in a hurry, I should have paid better attention. I was on the Kennedy '72-'77...it was definitely not the highlight of any part of my life so far.
