Printer friendly E-mail this story Alex Whitney out for votes as a gayRepublican In the deep-blue DFL election precincts around Minneapolis' Lake of the Isles, a young Republican legislative candidate with strong GOP bloodlines is trying on a new campaign color: lavender.
"My name is Alex Whitney and I am a Gay Republican," reads a campaign mailing sent Tuesday by the GOP-endorsed opponent of state House DFL Leader Margaret Anderson Kelliher. "There ... I said it."
Whitney, 26, is making his first run for office in a district that hasn't been friendly to Republicans of any orientation for decades.

I live only a few mailes from this district and trust me, he doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell of winning.
But if he can keep Margaret Anderson Kelliher (a flaming liberal) busy and away from meddling in other races, I'm all for it.

WELCOME TO FREE REPUBLIC'S MINNESOTA PING LIST!!!
Let me know if you want on or off this list!
I could not vote for someone who identifies themselves by their pathology. May as well vote for the guy who's an "out and proud" drug addict.
If this guy supports smaller government, lower taxes .... and doesn't try to enter the personal life of my friends ... I too support him.
why not: "My name is Alex Whitney and I am a Homosexual Republican" ?
Talk about a lousy sense of timing! Rots-o-ruck to Alex. If somehow he manages to pull it out (npi), Alex can expect an unprecedented level of scrutiny upon arrival in DC.
I agree.
In a district that's not Republican friendly, one would have supposed he would bill himself as a queer and demoncRAT.
I'm a conservative Republican who is occasionaly gay, but never homosexual. (I won't give that word up to the depraved crowd who seek to normalize their depravity.)
From http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=52472 :
While the party wants the support of "values voters," it also is courting homosexuals and seems willing to appease the movement's radical agenda, USA Today said in a feature story.
Ugh.
Is anyone running as a Libertarian?
My name is Smedly Dobbs, I am a Republican pornographer. The list goes on with ways to lure democrat voters.
(My apologies if there is a real Smedly Dobbs!)
We need more homosexuals in the Republican Party like we need another hole in our....
Some people will do anything to get the Democrats vote.
