After spending three years on the run, a Tucson man who pleaded guilty to attempted sexual conduct with a minor was apprehended on Sunday as he entered the United States from Mexico, an official said Wednesday.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Douglas port of entry, about 100 miles southeast of Tucson, encountered Francisco Castro Bustamante, 64, during the routine screening of those applying for admission into the country, said Brian Levin, a spokesman for the U.S. Customs and Border Protection field of operations office.

Bustamante is a Mexican citizen with legal permanent residency in the United States, which means he has permission to live and work in this country, Levin said. While checking his name for connections to terrorist organizations, immigration violations or warrants, officers discovered he was wanted in Pima County, according to a press release from U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

Bustamante failed to appear for sentencing after pleading guilty in 2003 to attempted sexual conduct with a minor in the second degree and preparatory dangerous crimes against children, according to the release.

The Customs and Border Protection officers immediately took Bustamante into custody and verified the warrant. They contacted the Douglas Police Department to pick him up from the port of entry for processing.

Why was he freed to begin with?

Yeah.. but I think you misread the article. He was a U.S. pervert who fled to Mexico and returned... or was pushed into the U.S.

"a Tucson man, (Francisco Castro Bustamante), who pleaded guilty to attempted sexual conduct with a minor was apprehended-----is a Mexican citizen with legal permanent residency in the United States, which means he has permission to live and work in this country..."

He's no more a "Tuscon man" than a Martian; he's a Mexican citizen, raised in Mexico and inculturated with Mexican values, who happens to have a visa that allows him to live and work in the U.S. These are the type of people that Vicente Fox sends over the border to us, and our President is their single biggest supporter and advocate.

If we cleaned out our prisons of illegal aliens from Mexico and deported them, we'd save enough tax payer's money and law enforcement resources to build a real security wall on the southern border and pay 20 thousand men to patrol it.

Mexican here in a legal resident status (non-Citizen Green Card), convicted but failed to show for sentancing as a pervert, flees to Mexico, then gets caught trying to sneak back in thinking the heat had died down and using his legal resident (Green Card).

I hope the first thing they did was cancel his damn green card.
