Aids Spreads in China "Like Africa"

BEIJING (Reuters) - AIDS in China has spread beyond high risk groups such as injecting drug users, prostitutes and homosexuals and the country is becoming "like Africa" in how the virus is transmitted, a senior health official says.

"There are 190 new HIV infections every day … and in some high-prevalence areas, nearly one percent of pregnant women are infected with HIV," said Hao Yang, deputy director

Happens in Africa like that as well.

I have read that female-to-male HIV transmission rates are vanishingly low, but I don't know how much truth there is to that. I suspect that some of these husbands swing both ways.

In Africa, the men who work often go out with prostitutes even if they are married. They get aids from prostitutes because often both folks have open wounds on their body from bad hygiene and work.

Well, maybe healthly females get contract it this way. I do not believe that healthy heterosexual males contract it engaging in "normal heterosexual" sex with females. They do contract it from infected females if they have genital lesions or sores from other venereal diseases which are also endemic in Africa.

Right, that is the point regarding sores and stuff. If China is getting it like Africa, outside of homosexual contact and drug needles, the sores on the body make a big infectious hit on the population.

I've read several articles about bad hygiene in Africa and sores being on men and hookers who spread the disease.

You can see that this would spread through the heterosexual population like wildfire. As many as many as a quarter of a million new heterosexual infections a day. The fact is, it doesn't happen. Most aids cases in the U.S. involve queers and IV drug users.

If on any given night, 60% of New York City men were having sex with prostitutes? "Wildfire" would be too meek a term.
