"The poll, which was taken of 1,006 registered voters from Oct. 13-16 and has a margin of error of plus-minus 3.1 percentage points, comes a few weeks after Republicans encountered a series of setbacks, including the release of an intelligence estimate calling the Iraq war a "cause célèbre" for Islamic militants, journalist Bob Woodward's unfavorable portrayal of the Bush administration's handling of Iraq, and the news that former U.S. Rep. Mark Foley, R-Fla., had inappropriate correspondence with teenage congressional pages. "

Polls that are way off now, when we know the figures from the election, should lose their polling status for any poll in the future. I have not seen this one but would be willing to bet one could add 8% points to the GOP side and it would be more accurate.

The poll, which was taken of 1,006 registered voters from Oct. 13-16

Funny how these stories never list the days of the week - THAT WAS A WEEKEND! Most of us normal people were out living our lives, shopping, working around the house, attending sporting events.

To respond to this poll, you have to be: a) at home on a weekend

b) still using a landline for most of your calls

c) not using Caller ID because you can't understand it, can't read the small numbers through your bifocals or will talk to any old person who rings up

d) willing to participate

e) actually want to sit through the entire boring thing

Who might fit that bill? I'm going to go out on a very thick limb here and say senior citizens and sit-around-the-house types and anyone else who might think FDR will be on the ballot next month.

But .. as usual .. the dems live the a one day poll, and forget to follow it through - and now several weeks AFTER the Foley NON-ISSUE - the dems have ignored their own poll which showed that Evangelicals WERE NOT UPSET ABOUT FOLEY - in fact the poll showed they were not blaming the GOP - but were blaming Foley.

Funny .. I don't recall hearing about that on TV - ever - but it's been all over the internet.

The dems believe Foley is a big issue for the repubs - and it's NOT!!
