  • Reuters reported the European Union has admitted that its nuclear talks with Iran have run into a dead end.
  • EUobserver reported that EU foreign ministers are set to agree to UN sanctions on Iran over its nuclear program.


Russia agrees to sanctions on Iran, but can continue build Iran's nuclear power plant.

  • Reuters reported that in order to dissuade Moscow from blocking U.N. action against Iran, Russia would be permitted to work on a nuclear reactor in Iran even if the U.N. Security Council imposes sanctions on Tehran.


El Baradei finally warns that 30 nations could have nuclear bombs soon.

  • The Jerusalem Post reported that Mohamed ElBaradei warned that as many as 30 countries could have technology that would let them produce atomic weapons "in a very short time."


Iraqi PM: Iran and Syria can end the violence in Iraq.

  • The BBC News reported that the Iraqi President Jalal Talabani said that the violence in Iraq could end "within months" if Iran and Syria joined efforts to stabilize the country.

  • Iran Press News reported that more than a week has passed since the arrest of Ayatollah Kazemeini-Boroujerdi and his supporters and there is still no word on the status of activist and blogger Kianoosh Sanjari who was among those rounded up during the sweep of arrests.
  • Iran Press News reported that according to received reports, one of the supporters of the Ayatollah Kazemeini-Boroujerdi who was arrested during the riots on Saturday night, October 7th, in Tehran died under the pressure of torture.
  • Iran Press News reported that the students committee of human rights reporters announced that imprisoned student activist Ahmad Batebi who had been re-arrested in front of his house with his wife on July 29th was finally released after withstanding 79 days in solitary confinement; his family consigned a bail in the amount of $125,000 for his release. He has since been returned to prison.
  • Iran Press News reported that Ali-Akbar Moussavi-Khoini the representative of the sixth Islamic parliament and secretary general of Tahkim Vahdat (fostering unity)* was arrested during the Monday, June 12th gathering for women’s rights. He has not as of yet been permitted to meet with his lawyer and the status of case remain quite unclear.
  • Iran Press News reported that the Islamic regime’s judiciary has once again suspended the execution of Kobra Rahmanpour. The sentence can only be commuted if the victim's heirs forgo their right to retribution and ask instead for the payment of blood money, which in Islamic statutes is referred to as a "Diyeh". So far, all efforts to obtain the deceased's family consent have failed.
  • Iran Press News reported that Keyvan Rafii who was transferred to ward 209 of Evin prison, on July 9th this year, finally appeared for a hearing at revolutionary court on Wednesday, October 11th without legal representation.
  • Iran Press News reported that the Islamic regime deceives political prisoners, falsifying reports of their parent’s death.
  • Iran Press News reported that student activist Ghareeb Sadjadi who had passed the entrance exam and was accepted to the masters program of the political science department of Allameh Tabatabaei University, was not allowed to register.
  • Iran Press News reported that Amnesty International has recently revealed an official directive from the Islamic regime authorities to the intelligence and security agencies ordering them to officially gather intelligence on the Bahá’i community of Iran and their activities.
  • Iran Press News reported that the students of the school of Polytechnic at Amir Kabir university gathered to protest.
  • Iran Press News reported that Dr. Saghi Bagherinia, publisher of Asia newspaper and wife of celebrated journalist Iradj Jamshidi were summoned to the Islamic regime’s bureau of enforcement of the judiciary.
  • Iran Press News reported that dozens of workers from Zowb Record, a metal smelting company gathering in the city of Mash’had announced that they have not received their wages for 7 months.
