King5 news ^ | 10/19/2006 | Bernhard Choi, king5

Republicans say a new ad is grossly misleading and the Democrats are illegally using copyrighted video.

Conveniently leaving out bits of information is a well-worn tactic in political advertising, but Republicans say the latest ad in the 8th Congressional District race crosses the line.

I can't believe the local TV channel in Seattle is going to call foul on a democrat for selective editing. But this story is coming up on the 11:00 news.

I wish all of these ads would be pulled off of the air. They make me sick ! both sides are acting like they have no class.

both sides are acting like they have no class.

The problem is, the Republican's can't act, and the Democrats aren't acting...

Cheers!

I get sick of Republican whining. When a scumbag Democrat airs a fraudulent ad, return fire with an even MORE fraudulent ad. I dunno.... photoshop the rat candidate at a NAMBLA meeting or something. Whatever.

Bump.

Darcy Burner is a hag, and Reichert is politically gutless.

A pox on all their houses. Dave should pull it out, though.

Reichert is a namby pamby RINO. His only saving grace is he's slightly less liberal than Darcy.

No argument from me. Of course, I'm so lucky I live in Jim McDermott's district.

Hemlock on the rocks, please.

I've got Norm Dicks. Far better than McDermott, but equally entrenched.

The Seattle media has turned on Burner for two reasons:

1. She's going to lose anyway.

2. She's also an embarassment as a candidate. She's been able to raise money, and flatter the nutroots, but as an actual candidate, she would be WAAAAYYYYYY over her head in a STATE REPRESENTATIVE race.

Here is her entire resume:

I went to Harvard for undergrad.
I worked at Microsoft.
I quit my job to attend Law School, and then dropped out after one year.

That's it. NO public service, NO big business positions, NO nothing. She couldn't even stick with Law School.

And, frankly, Reichert is kind of hard to hate. He's simultainously a very tough and very kind, soft touch sort of guy. He's center-right, moderate enough for his district but conservative enough for the base.

So the media has basically decided to pile on Burner. They like D's, but they don't like to be taken for chumps. Which is exactly what Burner tried to do.

Whoever's responsible, TVW says their position is simple. "Stop running this ad because it's using our footage. Our footage is copyrighted. It's ours. It's not to be used for political purposes," said Mike Bay, vice president of programming for TVW.

This is good.

The liberal King 5 news "show" has given Reichert very favorable coverage, even called me with a push-poll during his first campaign. I am sure it's because they had worked with him as he and others in the Sheriff's Department worked on finding the Green River Murderer, and he had formed good relations with them. Anyone who can win over the liberal Seattle media while being a Pubbie has to get some credit.

I hope TVW puts out the strong arm on this, and soon.

It's an ad the Democrats say shows how closely Rep. Dave Reichert tows the Republican party line.
Oh please...How he tows the party line?? Where the heck was the editor on this one?

Isn't stooping to their level and acting like the enemy the reason the GOP is in a weak position to begin with?

Your advice is ill-headed, but unfortunately often followed.

That must be quite a heavy party line if Reichert has to tow it. : )
