What a fine article. Always worth reading Christopher Deliso on the Balkans.
Of particular note:
"The present reality reflects the words of Albanian scholar Isa Blumi, who warned four years ago that the influx of Saudi charities and schools was creating a new "generation of young men and women whose loyalties are not with Kosovo and [who] sustain a volatile intolerance to anyone who contradicts their training.""
Let's admit it, the Islamists won hands down in Kosovo. They're getting stronger, they're patient, just pouring in the funds, which are limitless.
The West is complicit, through a mixture of arrogance, laziness and uninterest in the entire area. A dizzying cocktail for sure.
And it's not only the Islamists; the Nazis are being given immortalized by the ethnic Albanians.
"Just as the UN negotiator on Kosovo Martti Ahtisaari wanted to honor and commemorate Finnish Nazi SS troops, Kosovo Albanians have already done that by naming a high school in Pec and a street in Prishtina after a Nazi-era Kosovo Albanian leader and ally of Hitler."
Way to go, NATO: the Nazis and Islamists are getting a new burst of life in Europe. Mind you, the political wing of NATO is staffed by former Trots and trendy lefties, so no surprise there.
I have absolutely no doubt.
