A 24-year-old Oxnard man has been arrested in Mexico in connection with the 2004 murders of three people, authorities said.

Rudolfo Negrete was taken into custody in Acapulco Friday by Mexican authorities acting on information from the U.S. Marshals Service and the Ventura County Sheriff's Department, which had been seeking Negrete since shortly after the killings.

Negrete's was a high-profile case, spurring a $10,000 reward and several appearance on "America's Most Wanted."

He was taken to a federal prison near Mexico City for extradition proceedings.

"I'm not sure how long he's been there, but we just developed information in the past two months of him being in several locations in and around Acapulco," said John Clark of the U.S. Marshals Service. "The arrest of Rudolfo Negrete was a textbook example of the benefits of the international law enforcement community, the judicial system and governments working together."

The Sheriff's Department received word that Negrete was in Mexico in May of 2005, and Mexican authorities had issued an arrest warrant in August 2005.

Negrete could remain in Mexico for a long time if he opposes extradition.

"The process could take months or even years," Clark said. "That's beyond our control now. That will depend on him and his attorneys."

Negrete was wanted in connection with the slayings of Alexander Lee Jordan, 24, his wife, Cynthia Jordan, 22, and 21-year-old Daniel Campos.

All three were found shot and killed April 17, 2004.

The Jordans' bodies were found near the California State University, Channel Islands, and their car had been stolen. They were from Taft, about 70 miles north of Ventura.

The body of Campos was found on the side of a road near a strawberry field in Oxnard.

In November of 2004, Jose Manuel Ramirez of Oxnard was arrested for a probation violation and became a second suspect.

Ramirez spent 18 months in prison for other crimes but was never charged in the killings because of insufficient evidence. Authorities said he remains a suspect.

There'll be no extradition as long as the death penalty is a possibility.

And this one needs killin'.

I noticed there wasn't any mention of citizenship so I'm concluding all players are/were illegals.
