Yes, but it was a nonstarter. There was no way there were going to be 67 votes in the Senate for conviction. 1998 proved to be a lost opportunity, with the Dems actually gaining seats when history pointed to a loss for the Dems -- it forced resignations of Gingrich, also Linder (not from the House but as House Republican Campaign Chairman)...
Now 2002 broke the historical trend as well -- so if some on this forum are right and the R's gain seats, have we entered a new political paradigm?
Back to the original question -- will there be impeachment if Pelosi is Speaker? I don't think this is a promise she can make. If the House brings charges, won't the issue be out of her hands? She can threaten to discipline her caucus but I can't see that either.
Yeah right, Nancy, she's probably got her girdle in a wad in high hopes of just doing the very thing she professes to not do.
LOL - Yes, indeed.
I am going to have a celebration after the elections and assuming everything or almost everything swings GOP, then I sit down the following day and fax Rep. Nancy Pelosi (202-225-8259) to tell her thanks for those liar, cheat, and corrupt statements regarding the other side and the administration. Perhaps she can retry after the next election. And, for delicious self-gratification I will call her at 202-225-4965 (voice) and tell her staffer how much I so enjoyed her televised b.s. irt GOP and to press on being such a dummie.
Pelosi claims to be pro-union, but hires no union workers in her fabulous hotel or restaurant; Pelosi claims to be pro-environment, but the golf course in which she's part owner has failed to meet major environmental standards set for it when it was constructed; Pelosi lies.......
Methinks and mehopes that the incessant "Democrat 2006 Victory" drumbeat has pissed off enough Republicans and Conservatives who will go vote just to get even with the Democrat rat bastards for counting their chickens before their eggs hatch!
>Is she kin to that runaway bride? She has the same eyes. <
Looks like a thyroid problem. Is there an M.D. available for consultation?
> John Conyers. The guy is totally demented. I cannot imagine him head of the Judicial Committee. <
Compared to Hon. Alcee Hastings -- whom Nancy wants as Chairman of the Intelligence Committee -- Conyers is a paragon of virtue and levelheadedness.
From Vermont to Illinois to California, voters this fall will be deciding the fate not just of candidates for Congress but of President Bush and Vice President Cheney.
Communities that are home to more than 1 million Americans will have an opportunity to cast ballots on the question of whether Congress should begin impeachment proceedings against the president and vice president.
OMG - Hastings was already impeached as a judge .. I still don't know how he managed to get elected to public office.
Putting that guy in charge of the intel committee is like letting the wolf loose in the hen house.
Somebody shoot me now, I just found out today that I'm living in Pelosi's district. At least I can cast my first California ballot against her, not that it will matter in these parts.
When pelosi made her statement that it would take a woman to clean house......I called her office and suggested to the gal who answered the phone that I thought that was a wonderful idea and perhaps pelosi ought to start with her good friend Gary Condit's house.
I would like her to go, "Wee, wee, wee, all the way home."
She also said she's never had a facelift either!
Do you believe THAT one too?
Can we use it as a Halloween mask to scare the kiddies?!
