BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- A search is under way for a U.S. soldier who went missing in Iraq Monday evening, amid fears the soldier might have been kidnapped.

A military official in Washington told The Associated Press the missing service member was an Army translator.

comanchechief freepmailed me as well.

The point comanchechief was making was that Iraqis didn't attack the Spaniards. This is true.

But the EXACT same people are behind the violence in Iraq, the violence in Spain and 9/11.

They may not all answer to the same person at the same time, but they are all peas from the same pod, murdering by the same plan.

I am rather amazed at anyone who doesn't understand the truth of what you just posted.

The problem we have is that this is a war that is VERY different from any war fought in the past, and it is difficult for people to believe we are at war.

It is because there are people prepared to do violence on our behalf halfway around the world that we can be forgiven for finding it hard to believe we are at war.

It is no coincidence we have not been attacked again. And this is the way life is going to be for a while.

People don't know it, but there has been this fight going on around the globe in unnamed places against people who want to do us harm. We don't hear about it.

You're being emotionally swayed by the media. That is exactly what they (the media/Democrats) want, especially prior to an election.

Our troops don't need for us to be panicking over here. Since you're in touch with "dozens of troops," I assume through a soldier support organization, usually we are advised to keep communications positive.

I for one am proud of the good work our troops are doing, and have done, in Iraq. Our President is bowing to whatever the commanders advise in carrying out OIF.

Meanwhile, we need to wait for more information re this lost or kidnapped Army translator.

I found this just now:

One good post after another, Mike A.

I am disgusted with what the media is doing with this every day, while the U.S. election draws near. This is the full extent of Democrat desperation.

They denigrate the freedom that our soldiers are fighting for, have always fought for.

Goodness I got another freepmail from someone who doesn't even seem to be posting on this thread. I'm not sure why these folks don't debate the stuff here out in the open. I'm feeling rather *populare* tonight! ;)

Same with me. I got another freepmail from someone else named rafaeljordan, as you evidently did. I am not sure why these folks don't want to post. Perhaps they are trying to be polite because they don't want to embarrass us in public because we are so misinformed or ignorant?

I have faith in the commanders and the heroes there.

However,

The media must be told to get the f out. Media---OUT!!! All of 'em...OUT! NOW!!!

Wars are not waged with communications majors reporting exagerrations and lies. Give them 24 hours to get out. And only US military approved reports should be given out to the networks and media outlets.

Enough already!

Oh, yeah, that's the ticket! And to think I thought it was just that they didn't have the guts to post that stuff on a public forum (or worse, they were just picking on a poor little old lady like me!) ;)

It sounded like the same person, both of them.

The last one I got from the second poster told me that the "NIE" (See...I am obviously one of the ignorant sheeple, but my puny brain did know what "NIE" stands for...:) said we are only making more enemies.

Everytime I see a comment that we should not fight back at these people, I am reminded of an Ann Coulter quote:

"We don't want to fight the people who hate us and wish for our destruction, because that will make them hate us and wish for our destruction."

I actually read that word to be something else for a minute!

Either way, it applies! LOL.

A retread is a poster who's been banned and signs up with another identity.

I think it's more like they don't want to be banned after 1 comment. Expressing their views to someone who is not a moderator allows them to debate their ideological counterparts.

Debate here. I have been on FR for a long time and I've never been banned for anything I've said. What makes you think you would get banned? You don't appear to have been here long enough to have seen many people get banned...or....have you been here before?

Why would you or anyone else be banned for saying what you did?
