Very interesting. I figured the heads were further processed for other goods. Rather than killing a pig and wasting the meat, I would drive to a hog slaughtering plant and offer the first guy I saw $40.00 to slip a head into a plastic garbage bag and hand it over to me for a prank.

Perhaps these folks in France live on farms themselves and the pig's head was just a by-product of their regular butchering schedule.

Not very likely. First of all, those guys are all illegal aliens and don't speak English. Second, a hog slaughtering plant resembles a federal prison nowdays. Barb wire, guards, security cameras, etc. After all its our nations food supply and there are precautions that must be taken in a post 911 world. But you are correct. Some of the head is used for human consumption. But to my knowledge, a whole head will never leave the walls of a corporate type slaughtering plant. There are still some mom and pop type shops in operation though and I have no idea how they operate. Try and find one though. I could point out a few abandoned buildings to you that used to be mom and pop type operations.

Hey you'd like my dad...when we were kids he got a few free pig heads from the butcher boiled them for three days to make head cheese. Of course he took the brains out first and ate a huge cooked mess of them for breakfast one morning right in front of us poor kids just trying to get our Cheerios down.
