The Prius is remarkably roomy inside. I had a VW Passat before the Prius, and the interior room is at least as much as in the Passat. True, it is no Lincoln Town Car, but the Prius is far from cramped, even for back seat passengers (I have ridden back there as my kids are learning to drive).

There was a survey done a year or so ago regarding the Honda hybrids. They found out that conservatives were twice as likely to be hybrid owners than liberals. It makes sense to me.

I believe the story is emphasizing the hypocrisy of leftists who put themselves on a pedestal because they own hybrids. Conservatives on the other hand buy them not because they can feel superior to others, but because they are economically practical.

And woe be unto the peon employee who does not ensure that these pampered VIPs every whim is met.

Or such absurdities as forcing the limo driver to keep the car running during an entire show so it is nicely air conditioned in the rare event that they decide to leave early.

It is just about like wrapping yourself in the car. She may want to try and get a weekend test drive or extended drive to make sure she will be comfortable.

I know of a case where a revered 1960s pop singer nearly an hour late for a show.

Why? A shuttle van was broken down at the curb at the hotel entrance and her limo could not pull up directly to the front door. She refused to walk 90 feet on a sidewalk to where the limo was able to park. Of course -- as you state -- the limo was required to idle the entire time so she could step into an air conditioned limo.

Go to The Smoking Gun website and check out the contract riders for these entertainers. Quite a few will go ballistic if a single item is not met (e.g. Evian water at room temperature, fresh cut flowers with no mums, etc.)

The entertainment crowd does not live in the real world and, because of this, almost never speak for me.

A friend of mine bought a hybrid for the Nor Cal car pool lanes - loves driving it. It's quiet, smooth and quick.

I saw a news segment recently about how some hybrid high performance supercars are coming to market soon. Imagine a fuel efficient Ferrari...

Clooney's rep, publicist Stan Rosenfield, tells TMZ, "You clearly have no understanding of certain people's need for private transport," and points out that Clooney often has "no control" over his travel schedule.

No control over his travel schedule? Not even if it means saving the planet? Typical that he wants to control what everyone else does, but he can't even control his own travel schedule. And I hear there actually is more than one NY to LA flight per week now, you know, for those people with unpredictable travel needs.

Happy Moms are a good thing.

Otoh, if in the next year (3 yr avg lifespan) the battery pack craps out, or anything else starts to fail.....you also know that if you do have the urge and opportunity to say, "Mom, I told you so...." We sons know to STFU!

I won't but you know the problems are coming. I had very frank discussion with the service manager at the dealer. While the technology is new he felt that the battery issue was way overblown and that it was more cycle dependent than time dependent. Three years in January - winter!~

This guy has never met Mr. Murphy, eh? =D

He can talk to Sony/Dell/Apple/etc about the 'overblown' failure modes of high-energy density batteries.

My mom traded her brand new SUV for a even newer V6 coupe (hot rod) "to save gas." Do the math, not really. Nevermind. Whatever you want, mom. Now the GPS/bluetooth interface has software interoperability problems.

I refuse to get involved in that one. I don't like working on her PC, I sure as hell ain't getting involved in uploading patches into the car. I'll keep my depreciated 70's and 80's cars just in case!
