Hybrid cars are all the rage in Hollywood. Celebrities drive them like they're a badge of honor. You save a few gallons of gas, you save the planet. Right? Well, not when you hop on a private jet and burn enough fuel to propel NASCAR through 2050.
Of course, the stars need to go here and there. The location shoots, the fabulous vacations, etc. But that's why God created United Airlines. G-IV's, on the other hand, were created in the image of precious celebs.
Julia Roberts
On the ground: Roberts drives a Prius, which gets (at best) 60 miles to the gallon, shaving 30 miles off a normal car's mpg.
In the air: Chicago/LA, 1,749 miles in a private jet, the route she took with Rupert Everett while shooting "My Best Friend's Wedding." Gas guzzled: 2,100 gallons of jet fuel. Prius Penance: Julia would have to drive 30,000 miles, or roughly once around the earth and then some to even out her consumption in the air.
So Julia says: No word yet from Julia's rep.

Just wasteful self-absorbed hipocrites telling the rest of us how to live our lives.
I just love being lectured on my energy consumption habits by people with twelve-car garages and their own planes.
Car & Driver should do a survey of Prius owners. Is there anyone out there who drives a Prius as their ONLY car?
Makes one think of AIRianna Huffington.
You can bet the Prius is parked in front of the 5 MPG Limo!
Pray for W and Our Troops
I've had some up close and personal contact with Prius owners, and if squirrels were big enough, they would eat them.
I was at a Ferrari show the other day (to drool of course) and I saw more than one $200,000 Ferrari with one of those "My other car is a Prius" license plate frames. You have to love these clowns.
That's exactly who should drive those thing...people in their 70's!
Oh yea she fills up for about $30 and goes about 500 miles on that. Laughs at my $75 fill ups. Still not sure it was worth the about $15,000 price increment considering you can get a gas car that easily gets 40 mpg for a lot less. But she is happy and it is her only vehicle. Happy Moms are a good thing.
My husband loves driving his Prius, only problem with that is that the miles are adding up.
My friend has one. When it wouldn't start (she was at the airport) she had to wait for over an hour for assistance as she had to have special service and couldn't call AAA, which she pays for.
That reads like a movie title.
Or at least a good docu-drama.
Bill Cosby would say, "My stupid brother in California - just look at him, will ya?"
Strange things grow in Kailfungus.
In the picture with this story Leo Dicapprio is filling his car with gas while talking on a cell phone. He may get flown to the moon without a space ship.
By the way John kerry flies in his wifes private jet drives an SUV ,has 5 vacation homes to heat and cool and claims to be FOR the environment.
Okay, would the Prius owner eat the squirrels or vise versa?
lol! Quote of the day!
Enough said.
No celeb here, but I drive a Prius and my wife drives a minivan. I don't mind conserving gas, but I mainly like to save money. I have 68K miles on mine, purchased in November of 2004. I like gadgets, which is another reason I got the car. The only downside to it that I have found is being mistaken for a liberal by those who don't know me. I correct them pretty quickly.
