My Mother who is in her 70's has a Prius and loves it. She drives about 20k miles per year and has had it for two years. I warned her when she got it about batteries etc. No problems to date. The dealer is fantastic and treats her like I want my Mother to be treated. She only gets about 55 mpg on the highway, but it is an older model. I hate the thing but I do have to admit it has more zip than most 4 cylinders I have driven and is very quite. The ride is ok for a smaller car but not like my SUV's.

Oh yea she fills up for about $30 and goes about 500 miles on that. Laughs at my $75 fill ups. Still not sure it was worth the about $15,000 price increment considering you can get a gas car that easily gets 40 mpg for a lot less. But she is happy and it is her only vehicle. Happy Moms are a good thing.

My friend has one. When it wouldn't start (she was at the airport) she had to wait for over an hour for assistance as she had to have special service and couldn't call AAA, which she pays for.

My mother is going to trade her Buick for one. Gas milage is the big draw for her too. She is used to rather large cars so I think she will be in for a shock at how close the quarters will be.
