They should factor in the energy wasted on the lavish homes these people live in as well. I would imagine most are the size of a small shopping mall, and some celebs own several.
Just wasteful self-absorbed hipocrites telling the rest of us how to live our lives.

I just love being lectured on my energy consumption habits by people with twelve-car garages and their own planes.

Car & Driver should do a survey of Prius owners. Is there anyone out there who drives a Prius as their ONLY car?

In the picture with this story Leo Dicapprio is filling his car with gas while talking on a cell phone. He may get flown to the moon without a space ship.
By the way John kerry flies in his wifes private jet drives an SUV ,has 5 vacation homes to heat and cool and claims to be FOR the environment.

The comments on the website are precious. "Well, at least they are TRYING!" Right. You drive 50 miles in your hybrid then fly halfway around the world to go to a party or your job. If they were "trying", they would move to a small house in a middle-class neighborhood and get a job at a store within walking distance.
BTW, DiCrapio actually flies commercial, they said.

Frankly, some people can cost justify a private jet at some point due to the cost of time. That's an accounting deal. I aspire to have that problem and screw the enviro weenies who want to make me feel bad.
I just wouldn't have any kind of remote thought telling people they should drive a Prius though while I'm flying private or driving a Ferrari.

Who wants to bet their publicists tell them to buy these cars and be seen driving them around town and to award shows. That it will generate plenty of positive PR with the greenies and their fan base.

Clooney's rep, publicist Stan Rosenfield, tells TMZ, "You clearly have no understanding of certain people's need for private transport," and points out that Clooney often has "no control" over his travel schedule Hey, cloooney, "certain people's needs" are no more important than the needs of those of us who are "mere" people.

In the air: Chicago/LA, 1,749 miles in a private jet, the route she took with Rupert Everett while shooting "My Best Friend's Wedding." Gas guzzled: 2,100 gallons of jet fuel. And that was just one trip...

Wasn't it Streisand who, several years back, was blathering about legislation to protect the world's forests, at the exact same time she was having exotic lumber imported from all over the world to build her own castle?
These people are so far removed from reality that there's no hope of them being normal, or even being able to see the hypocrisy in what they do. Clooney's rep's response perfectly sums up how they feel about the rest of us: "We clearly can't understand Clooney's NEED to fly private."
How very very sickening these people are.

I know folks who work with Fixed Base Operators (private air terminals) at Port Columbus. Private jet is the standard mode of travel for most of the "green" big mouths. Whether they be politics or entertainment.
And woe be unto the peon employee who does not ensure that these pampered VIPs every whim is met.

Hybrid cars are all the rage in Hollywood. Celebrities drive them like they're a badge of honor. You save a few gallons of gas, you save the planet. Right? Well, not when you hop on a private jet and burn enough fuel to propel NASCAR through 2050.
Of course, the stars need to go here and there. The location shoots, the fabulous vacations, etc. But that's why God created United Airlines. G-IV's, on the other hand, were created in the image of precious celebs.

Seems like prices are higher where the money is. Notice New York being surrounded by green. That has got to be taxes! Same on the West coast I bet. |
