Drug raid yields Los Alamos documents

A drug bust at a trailer park in New Mexico turned up what appeared to be classified documents taken from the Los Alamos nuclear weapons laboratory, authorities said Tuesday.

Local police found the documents while arresting a man suspected of domestic violence and dealing methamphetamine from his mobile home, said Sgt. Chuck Ney of the Los Alamos, N.M., Municipal Police Department. The documents were discovered during a search of the man's records for evidence of his drug business, Ney said.

Police alerted the FBI to the secret documents, which agents traced back to a woman linked to the drug dealer, officials said. The woman is a contract employee at Los Alamos National Laboratory, according to an FBI official who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitive nature of the case.

The official would not describe the documents except to say that they appeared to contain classified material and were stored on a computer file.

FBI special agent Bill Elwell in Albuquerque, N.M., confirmed that a search warrant was executed on Friday night, but he refused to discuss details.

"We do have an investigation with regard to the matter, but our standard is we do not discuss pending investigations," Elwell said.

Maybe true for you. I've yet to post an article here. I came close a couple of times, even getting to the point where all I had to do was click "post". If I posted something & got no comments, I'd feel almost like I'd thrown a party & nobody came. :o)

Aw, come on, jump in, the water's fine. The last thing you should worry about is no one posting to your new thread. It's much more likely that you will make an inadequate search and do a repost or that you will make a small error and folks will jump all over it. Seriously though, I lurked for almost a year before I made my first post - and while I've never had a huge response, there has always been a positive response. Freepers are good people.

While FReepers *are* good people, that party thing has actually happened to me. LOL I'm HTML challenged & I just know someone would try to force me to go to camp. Other than the very basic HTML, I'm somewhat of an e-tard.

As far as posting here, I'd been a regular poster for a number of years at another site, so I jumped right in when I was directed over here. I can't imagine lurking anywhere without responding, but I think that's cuz I tend to be a chatterbox. Yes, I'm one of those people who strike up inane conversations with complete strangers.

Gee... I thought the authorities said that all Las Alamos info was accounted for. I thought that they said that all their breeches were just technical breaches of procedure, with no loss of information.

A misdemeanor? God help us. What the heck is Congress doing?

A misdemeanor?

Distinction: If you, as an authorized possessor of classified docs, hold on to them or remove them from the secure facility, that's a misdemeanor. If you CONVEY them to unauthorized people, then you will go to jail for a long time.

First they find classified documents behind the photocopier, now in a meth lab in a trailer park.

Oh yeah, our secrets are safe.

Absolutely! With these documents released, every single nuclear warhead in the US arsenal was compromised. This guy downloaded to 2 different unsecured computers including at UCLA. This scientist had 1 charge against him, is now suing the FBI and government and Clinton apologized for the mishandling of the case. Clinton is so dirty, there are too many links of Clinton and the Chinese, concerning weapons, satellites, and money exchanges. Clinton and this scientist should be charged with Treason.

These wouldn't be the missing documents that weren't accounted for after Wen Ho Lee was convicted?
